The staff question Dr Kelso's commitment to the hospital, but when he befriends patient Private Brian Dancer, the war stories he brings back from Iraq remind Kelso what it means to be a good leader. Meanwhile, Dancer's presence in the hospital causes a heated political debate amongst the staffers dividing them down party lines, but while everyone is fighting, the patient's well-being is being neglected.

After commandeering Dr Kelso's new RV, Eliot, Carla, Keith, Ted and the Janitor join the father to be on his journey. Meanwhile, Dr Cox and Jordan face some concern when her ultrasound reveals that their unborn child will need to have surgery.

My First Kill. (Series 4, episode 4)
JD asks Dr Cox to give the new interns a pep talk, but is shocked to hear him tell them that, at some point, they will screw up and kill a patient. JD dwells on Dr Cox's revelation and wonders when he'll accidentally kill someone... Meanwhile, Carla takes drastic measures to get rid of Rowdy - Turk and JD's loyal companion, and Elliot fights for a patient to receive a heart valve, but is challenged by Molly.

Hospital Comedy with Zach Braff
Series 1 Episodes
1: PILOT: MY FIRST DAY
After fours years of medical school J.D. is thrown into the chaos of Sacred Heart Hospital on his first day as an intern. Together with his best friend from college Chris Turk and his fellow intern Elliot Reid, J.D. has to find his feet fast when he comes up against Dr. Perry Cox and chief of medicine Dr. Bob Kelso.

2: MY MENTOR
Two weeks into their hospital intern programme things are running quite smoothly for J.D. and Turk although Elliot runs into difficulties when she accuses Carla of not running a test on a patient. When the other nurses side with Carla, Elliot�s fumbling attempt to apologise gets her deeper in trouble. Meanwhile, Turk is convinced that J.D. has more than a professional interest in Elliot although he strongly denies it. Turk, meanwhile has his eye on Nurse Carla Espinosa.

3: MY BEST FRIEND�S MISTAKE
Elliot asks J.D. for a kiss, but after they're interrupted J.D. has to make a move in 48 hours before entering �the friend zone�. He also feels neglected by Turk, who has been spending a lot of time with Carla so much so that J.D. even thinks of reporting what could have been Turk�s surgical mistake. He is so distracted by this that he almost forgets about Elliot, with his 48 hours nearly over he rushes to her, but he's too late. He is in �the friend zone".

4: MY OLD LADY
The three interns are each assigned patients with various illnesses. Statistically speaking, one of the three will die. J.D. joins his patient 86-year-old Mrs Tanner at a picnic with her family in the park, following which she tells him she is now ready to die. Turk and his patient David bond watching a classic football game on television and Elliot has Carla teach her some phrases in Spanish so she can communicate with her patient Mrs. Guerrero who only speaks Spanish. All three patients develop life-ending complications leaving J.D., Turk, and Elliot shocked by their first professional experience with death.

5: MY TWO DADS
J.D. points out what seems to be a mistake to Dr. Kelso, but it was really an attempt of Dr. Cox to help a woman without insurance get treatment. J.D. is asked by Dr. Kelso to join him in a round of golf whilst Dr. Cox is suspended for using one patient's insurance on another.

6: MY BAD
Dr. Cox is still facing the threat of suspension, and coincidentally, J.D. is assigned to a VIP patient, Jordan Sullivan, an important hospital board member. Her demanding nature at first annoys J.D. who does not realise that she is Dr. Cox's ex-wife, but he ends up warming to her. Meanwhile, Elliot is assigned to take care of a psychiatrist whose jaw has been wired shut, and for whom she ends up becoming a patient.

7: MY SUPER EGO
J.D. has competition as the brightest student at Sacred Heart in Nick Murdoch, so he is surprised when he finds Nick crying because he can't take the pressure of medical internship. Meanwhile, Turk is having problems at the operation table and Dr. Cox gives him a very unique suggestion on how to calm down before surgery.

8: MY FIFTEEN MINUTES
J.D. and Turk become heroes after saving a cameraman's life on TV whilst heading to a strip club. Dr Kelso exploits this immediately and makes Turk the new face of a publicity campaign highlighting the hospital�s diversity whilst J.D. worries about his evaluation.

9: MY DAY OFF
J.D. gets to see the hospital through the eyes of a patient when he's admitted for appendicitis. When Elliot examines him, he tells everyone how cold and rough she is, which really frustrates her so she tries new ways of improving her doctor-patient relationships, all of which fail. J.D. decides he does not want Turk to operate on him, which hurts his feelings, but he ends up doing it anyway.

10:MY NICKNAME
Dr. Cox gets really angry with Elliot who refuses to discharge an annoying patient and he takes it out on J.D. When Carla defends the intern Dr. Cox ridicules him in front of the whole hospital so J.D. tells Carla to stop protecting him. Carla is really upset by this, which makes J.D. feel bad.

11:MY OWN PERSONAL JESUS
It's Christmas, and even though the others don't really feel like celebrating, Turk makes a huge deal about it. But his faith and happiness are questioned following a busy night at the hospital. Dr. Cox asks J.D. to videotape the birth of the child of one of his friends, but J.D. forgets to change the tape in the recorder.

12: MY BLIND DATE
A woman slips and falls on the wet floor of the hospital. Afraid she might sue the hospital, Dr. Kelso asks J.D. to befriend her. As their friendship deepens he thinks about asking her out even though as she is stuck in the ultrasound machine he has never seen her face. Meanwhile, Turk tells Carla he loves her.

13: MY BALANCING ACT
J.D. is dating Alex now that she has been freed from the ultrasound machine. The two attempt to enjoy several romantic dates but every time his work gets in the way and so she decides to end their relationship. However overnight she changes her mind and brings him a surprise picnic that they share at the hospital.

14: MY DRUG BUDDY
When some medication goes missing, Elliot suspects Alex but J.D. defends her. Later J.D. finds the pills in Alex's purse and confronts her. He apologises to Elliot who admits she was jealous of Alex. Meanwhile, Turk finds out that Dr. Cox has secret feelings for Carla.

15: MY BED BANTER & BEYOND
J.D. and Elliot go to work thinking they can keep their new romance a secret but everyone already knows about it. However Elliot wants the type of deep relationship that Turk and Carla have and resents J.D.'s silly jokes and remarks. After a heart to heart they decide to break up.

16: MY HEAVY MEDDLE
J.D. and Elliot find even being in the same room too awkward and so Turk tries to help them make friends by asking Elliot to work with him on a surgical project. But his fellow surgical intern Todd tells her that Turk only picked her so that she could do most of the work forcing Turk to reveal his true intentions. In the meantime Dr. Cox drags a pyjama clad J.D. to a bar, where he opens his heart to him.

17: MY STUDENT
J.D., Elliot and Turk get their first medical students. Elliot decides to get tough with her rude student, but softens after learning his father is the CEO of the company that owns the hospital. Turk's female student catches Dr. Cox's eye and he asks for Turk�s help in wooing her. J.D. does not know how to handle his student, Josh, who is just like he was when he first started and tires of cleaning up after him and tells him he shouldn�t be a doctor, causing Josh to quit the programme.

18: MY TUSCALOOSA HEART
When a patient that was rude to J.D. and the nurses dies from cancer, J.D. feels awful for not giving him his full attention. Meanwhile, Elliot is given a tape by a patient that she is convinced features Dr. Kelso singing a song called "Tuscaloosa Heart".

19: MY OLD MAN
Elliot's parents come to visit and their pompous behaviour upsets their daughter. Turk is unnerved by Carla meeting his mother and J.D.�s divorcee father desperately tries to be one of the boys.

20: MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY
Turk's competitive nature begins to annoy J.D. whilst Dr. Cox is upset when the only nurse who can make good coffee is fired by Dr. Kelso. Dr Kelso forces him to make a public apology for their on-going feud before he will re-instate her. Elsewhere, Elliot is attracted to her patient and tries to get him to ask her out.

21: MY SACRIFICIAL CLAM
When a needle accidentally pricks J.D. he is scared he has caught Hepatitis B and so decides to avoid all contagious patients. When J.D. gets his negative test result back he feels really foolish and attempts to make up for it by spending some time with a contagious patient.

22: MY OCCURRENCE
Jordan's brother Ben is admitted following an accident with a nail gun. J.D. quickly bonds with him and they go out for drinks with Ben�s long-term friend Dr. Cox. But when Ben's hand starts to bleed, they take him back to the hospital where test results reveal he has leukaemia. Elliot and Turk have recently had wrong test results on patients so at first J.D. does not believe it, but eventually he realises he has to tell Ben the news.

23: MY HERO
When Ben finds out he has leukaemia, he takes the news relatively well unlike Jordan and J.D. Elsewhere in the hospital, Turk is upset because he wasn't chosen to assist on a difficult surgery and Elliot is criticised during rounds by Dr. Kelso for the 100th time.

24: MY LAST DAY
It is J.D., Turk and Elliot�s last day as interns but they still have lots of work to do. J.D. passes on a frequently returning patient to Elliot who in turn passes him to Turk who refuses to take him. They decide to play paper-scissors-stone to see who gets him but then in a change of heart team up to give the patient surgery so he won't have to come back again. As the three celebrate their teamwork and first day as residents Jordan shows up. She has decided to take Dr. Cox�s advice to "shake things up a little" and reveals all the secrets she knows about everyone at the hospital, leading to an explosive ending to the series.
