Top quality Steve Coogan character

This hasn't really been repeated much on BBC TV in the UK, and I never watched the first series anyway, so I purchased the complete two series. Saxondale is a great character, not as outlandishly cringe-makingly funny as Alan Partridge, but still excellent nether-the-less.
Tommy Saxondale is more likeable than Partridge, and his girlfriend Magz (who is played Ruth Jones who went onto to co-write and star in Gavin & Stacy as Nessa) is a great character also.
I wish Steve Coogan could come up with a new character like this every year, I would be in British-comedy-TV-heaven.

Classic Coogan

I purchased this dvd having not seen either series, but being a massive Alan Partridge fan, I knew Coogan would not disappoint! Saxondale is smartly written, the humour is writty and dry, although not as iconic as Partridge. Several characters from Partridge are also in this series. Well worth buying if your a Steve Coogan fan.

A truly toe-curling characterisation from the splendid Mr Coogan. Without the 70's soundtrack it would be brilliant - with it, it is sublime (probably my age helps in this respect!). A repeated Must-Watch.
As good as Partridge!

If you like Partridge, and you appreciate Coogan's better characters, you'll love Saxondale. The first (pilot) episode is a bit slow but after that, the director changed and it becomes great, staying that way throughout both series! The little cameo character Coogan comes up with is fantastic (Keanu Reeves), just had us in stitches!
