i am chuffed to see the original "special branch" programmes being released together for the first time. they are superior in my opinion; better acting and better dialogue. the later ones do look more authentic. alas, those particular instalments aren't much to write home about. too boring and talky.
looking at the photograph of the front cover, why isn't derren nesbitt's name first in the cast? that is surely a travesty. he is the main character from the original episodes and he is the only actor to have appeared in all 27 programmes in 1969 and 1970. plus, in my opinion he is the best actor in the whole thing. george sewell and patrick mower are quite good though in their series.
one word of advice: apart from the title being the only thing in common, it's best not to compare these programmes as they are completely different from each other.
