Great

I read the book and thought it was brilliantly written, one gripe was that the Don was like a poet constantly coming up with sayings. Apart from that the book had everything. I was a bit worried about watching this but i can safely say that the film has done the book justice.

I need to write seperatley about the acting in the film as it was magnificent particulary Joe Mantega and Jason Gedrick, both playing lead roles very well. Don Clericuzio played by Danny Aiello whose performance although very good, i felt someone else could have played the part better. His daughter Rosemary is played by two people one at a young age and one when she goes crazy. When she goes crazy shes played by Kirstie Alley from look whos talking. Theres a good supporting staff too but the characters in the movie business are played by people who overact way too much, like the director of the film in the film. I honestly thought that was a joke. People have commented on Daryl Hannah and her performance but i thought it was average and at times cringe worthy, also she is not the divine beauty that was mentioned in the book. The brother giorgio silvio and vinnie are played well but apart from Giorgio are under used characters in the movie, apart from the war they hardly do much else. Dante was played well also, but in the movie some of his more evil acts are missing.

The story is about one war and how it carries through generations to two cousins cross and dante. One evil and one good, the good of course wins. I know they are part of the mafia but cross seems like a good guy!

If youve read the book you will love this film and i give it a 5 star, if you havent read the book you will find its 262 minutes run time a little too long but i gurantee it is worth the watch and it would get 4 stars.

I haven't read the book but this film makes me want to, if its written half as well as it is acted, it must be some read! The acting is very good and the actors are extremely easy on the eye! I could watch this over and over again!

Good Film.......See It

I watched this film in America when i was over there on holiday and i am seriously serprised that i havent seen or heard of it in England. its a good, well acted film, obvioulsy not on the scale of the Godfather, but the storyline is good, and it is well acted. The film tells us of the Clericuzio mafia family, and how after establishing themselves as the no1 family, the threat came not from the outside, but from within. The plot will keep you guessing till the last minute. a top film.

Buzz Lightyear says see this film, its great.

A Complete Masterpiece, from start to finish sheer class

This film will have you sitting on the edge of your chair from start to finish, the brutal gangster fight scenes are a real must. Excellent screenplay and acting brings you one of the best films since the Godfather

halfway between godfather and goodfellas
