Nielson Brings Back that Naked Gun Feeling
Review date: 2008-10-11 Rating: 8 out of 10

I was debating whether or not to see this film when it came out, and rottentomatoes hadn't exactly promoted the film. However, the fact that Leslie Nielson and David Zucker induced me to pay the admission fee, and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I haven't laughed so much, so loudly, in a cinema since Ron Burgundy and his crew fed me laughing gas.

The quality of the visual gags reminded me of the excellent Naked Gun series and Airplane, and it was greatly satisfying to feel the same emotions this time around, albeit at points lacking the class of the aforementioned epics. Zucker really turned the screw round here, and I haven't, again since Anchorman, left the cinema convinced that I needed to buy the dvd to watch again the many classic moments.

Unlike the last few years that has featured many pathetic attempts of comedies, this was a welcome change. Don't listen to reviewers who gave this less than 3 stars, the whole cinema were in choruses of sniggering, and wails of uncontrollable laughter. If you liked Naked Gun, Airplane etc, then this is one of the best and is now definitely in the top ten of my all time comedies. Buy it!

Superhero Movie

Fortget all the bad reviews. this is an absolute cracker. It makes you laugh all the way through plus it has Drake Bell and the king of spoofs Leslie Neilson in it as well, which is a bonus. Splash out and buy this DVD. You will not be dissapointed.

One of the better spoofs

Clearly better than its competitor at the time (Meet The Spartans), Superhero Movie, mainly spoofing the first Spiderman movie, pulls off some pretty good gags. It had us all laughing more than a few times.

Even though this isn't a perticularly 'good' comedy, I'm giving it 4 stars because it's a top quality spoof compared to Date Movie, Epic Movie and Meet The Spartans.

as bad as I imagined it would be

This collection of movies that have been released over the past few years where bad actors try to take the mickey out of other films very rarely works. A few have been funny, but a lot haven't. Meet the Spartan's was just about bearable but this just bordered on agonisingly bad. The acting was awful, the plot (unsurprisingly) was pretty non exsistant and the whole thing seemed to drag and drag for ages (although the actual length of the film is under an hour and a half). The only good thing about the film, and reason I am nt giving it one star is the presense of Leslie Nielson, for he can still make everything he does funny, but he still wasnt funny enough to save the poor excuse for this movie.

I thought comedies are supposed to be funny.

This is definitely a strong contender for worst "comedy" ever. There are one or two bits that raise a slight smile (all of which can be seen in the trailer) but overall it is a complete disaster. It is also apparent that the writers haven't seen some of the films properly that it tries to lampoon. For instance, the hero in this film meets Johnny Storm from Fantastic 4 and asks what his superpower is. Johnny Storm says "watch this" and shouts "flame on" and, as in the fantastic 4 movies, bursts into flames. Fair enough, as this is exactly what he does. What doesn't make sense though, is that he then proceeds to jump around shouting "s***, s***, I'm on fire". Maybe I have missed something but I don't get it.

This film may work if you are five years old. However with the amount of swearing in this film, it's not really suitable for that age group. Anyone over five will find it tedious and dull, unless that is, you have the mental age of a five year old, then you will love it.
