A good remake of the classic Hitchcock film
Review date: 2008-09-01 Rating: 8 out of 10
This is the British remake of Alfred Hitchcock's classic film of the same name. Anthony Andrews stars as Johnnie Aysgarth (the role originally played by Cary Grant) who falls for a wealthy hairess Lisa (Jane Curtin). After a whirlwind romance they marry. Gradually Lisa begins to suspect there is more to Johnnie than meets the eye.
As remakes go this is a pritty good film. It does take a little while to get going - but stick with it. The plot is very close to the Hitchcock version. Being a British film there are the usual selection of excellent actors including Sir Michael Horden and watch out for a brief appearance by Martin Clunes as a photographer.
The print is pritty good quality and is presented in full screen. There are no special features which is dissapointing but you get a small booklet about some of the actors in the film. For some strange reason this film is rated 12 - there is hardly any violence or sex so a PG rating would have been more suitable. Still all in all an very enjoyable piece of British film making.
