Back for a Fourth
Review date: 2008-08-01 Rating: 10 out of 10

The Fabulous Ladies are back for a Fourth Season, and in my opinion, While no season will probably ever top the First Season, Season 4 of Desperate Housewives comes extremely close behind it in the finishing line, slightly up a gear from the wonderful Season 3 and a good deal better than the Okay-ish Season 2.

For those not in the know, it all takes place on Wisteria Lane, where the now deceased narrator, Mary Alice Young, allows us to see the world she left behind, and in focus, her four best friends. In this Season, Bree, desperate to keep her Daughter's pregnancy under wraps to avoid embarrassment has sported a Fake-Belly and plans to adopt her Daughter's baby when it is born. Lynette has been freshly diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a condition not made easier by her mother's stay with them. Gabrielle has just married Victor, but after realising he only married her to up his votes as a Politician, begins an affair with Carlos. Susan is finally married to Mike, and discovers she is pregnant, but is her dream life with Mike really what she always wished for? And as for Edie, did she survive her fatal suicide attempt from the gripping Season 3 finale? The answers are in this boxset.

Of course no Desperate Housewives Season is complete without the essential "Mystery" aspect to it. This year sees a fantastic addition to the main cast of Dana Delany, as Katherine Mayfair, who returns to the Lane after a 12 month absence with her New Husband, Adam (Nathan Fillion) and her daughter, Dylan (Lyndsy Fonseca). Katherine states that they have returned to see her Aunt through her final stages in life, but private conversations behind closed doors suggest otherwise, and that's not adding the fact that Dylan has changed a lot since she left Wisteria Lane, in fact, she seems like a completely different person... As always, the acting is top notch, and Dana Delany has not one bad moment in this season.

The Season was slightly stinted because of the writers strike, meaning 17 episodes instead of the usual 23, but in a way it benefits the season in that the last bunch of episodes are really cram packed with juicy stuff. The episodes are:
1 - Now you Know - (10/10)
2 - Smiles of a Summer Night - (9/10)
3 - The Game - (7/10)
4 - If There's Anything I Can't Stand - (8/10)
5 - Art Isn't Easy - (10/10)
6 - Now I Know, Don't be Scared - (10/10)
7 - You Can't Judge a Book by it's Cover - (7/10)
8 - Distant Past - (8/10)
9 - Something's Coming - (10/10)
10 - Welcome to Kanagawa - (8/10)
11 - Sunday - (10/10)
12 - In Buddy's Eyes - (10/10)
13 - Hello Little Girl - (8/10)
14 - Opening Doors - (10/10)
15 - Mother Said - (7/10)
16 + 17 (2-Part Finale) - The Gun Song/Free - (10/10)

The Season has a lot of thrills. For example, Imagine how Bree reacts when it turns out Katherine can make a better Lemon Meringue Pie than she can, Witness Lynette take on Katherine head to head when the Lane's new Gay Couple construct a fountain much to Katherine's dislike, Lynette gets some good news on Halloween which results in an extremely moving scene, Victor finds out about Gaby's affair which leads to a dangerous confrontation in the middle of the ocean, A Tornado rips through Wisteria Lane and changes lives forever, Katherine begins to lose her grip on things in "Sunday", Gabrielle gets in a fight with a man in a wheelchair over a parking spot, Bree and Katherine come close to blows when trying to co-organise the founders ball, Orson gets his Comeuppance for what he did to Mike in the Season 2 Finale, A dangerous face from Katherine's past reappears, Kayla continues to cause big problems for Lynette, and several of the residents lives are in danger in the Exceptionally good Season finale.

Although it does not beat Season 1 (Will they ever produce one that does?) This season does feel more like the original season than the previous two, and it's a complete thrill ride, you'd be a fool to miss it.

prepare to be stunned by this fabulous season of the show.
Review date: 2008-07-23 Rating: 10 out of 10

season one of the show really lured you in and kept you on your toes throughout,it was brilliant television and became a hit tv show, season 2 occaisonly dragged in some areas but nevertheless it was a great season that developed characters for future seasons, season three was(i found)a lot better than the previous seasons of the show and had a great run of fabulous episodes...however the loss of Marcia(Bree)Cross for six episodes brought it down a bit, finally season four of the show is what i call A RETURN TO FORM...AND THEN SOME!!!
the episodes this year have been consistantly strong and...possibly unbeatable for the next season.
new characters have been introduced, including the fabulously evil Catherine Mayfair(or is she??)which made great viewing ...her rivalry with bree is what showed up the previous seasons and made this THE BEST SEASON TO DATE!!!

eppy reviews(so far...come on C4)-
Now you Know-5/5-the best way to start a season and more,as the twists are planted for the rest of the season...and here starts the rivalry between Catherine and Bree:D.

Smiles of a summer night-5/5-Bree wants to make the perfect pie to outdo Catherine...cue laughs and pure classy entertainment...oh and Susans intro to the party...hilarryoos.

The Game-5/5-pure class...Lynette gets high on weed(haha)best game of charades ever!!!

If theres anything i cant stand-5/5-Susan sure knows how to make an impression on new neighbours as wisteria lane welcomes their first Gay couple...its great fun.

Art aint easy-5/5-the 'gang' are split when Wisteria Lanes residents debate over the new water fountain, this time Lynette takes on Catherine.

Now i Know Dont be Scared*-5/5-a classic and one of the best episodes ever made, when Bob and Lee invite Bree over for a Halloween party everything goes downhill(for our entertainment)...and Lynette is given the all clear...good for her")

You cant judge a book by its cover-5/5-Lynettes sisters come round for a visit and Lynette wants to hand their mother over to them, but it isnt gonna be that easy for her.

Distant Past-4/5-while it feels like a filler episode, its anything but and adds character development for the events that lye ahead.

Somethings Coming**-5/5-a spectacular episode of sheer epic proportions, when a tornado hits Wisteria Lane and lives are changed forever, its the greatest episode of the show to date!!!and possibly one of the greatest episodes ever to hit the small screen...its a triumph of film making that deserves all the awards it needs, its film like quality works a spectacle...lives are lost as the residents fight to survive...love it!!!an episode that only just blows Bang! right out of the water.

Welcome To Kangawa*-5/5-stunning episode,it deals with the events of the previous episode and shows just how everyone is going to cope through the wreckage...its a classic episode that is just as great than it has any right to be:)

Sunday-4/5-after ages of waiting the series is back with a tremendous episode that digs deep into Katherines character.

In Buddy's Eyes-5/5-Gaby copes with Carlo's blindness but a hilarious turn of events leads them to get a guard dog,Rick enters Lynetts life again causing a fire to abrupt in his rival restaurant, and Bree & Katherine battle it out once again...but theres a twist.

Hello Little Girl-4/5-things are upped in this episode as we now mainly focus on the mystery of the fire breakout and Katherines Ex husbands startling return to Fairview.

Open Doors-4/5-Lynette struggles with Kayla(who has now owned up for causing the fire),theres tension in between Bree and Orson after all is revealed about his car accident with Mike, and Gaby has someone to cover the rent for the house.

Mother Said-5/5-tensions and emotions hit a new high in a simply astounding episode of the shows run,Bree vs Lynette...its a great episode through and through which paves way for the season finale.

The Gun Song*(1)-5/5-This is a jaw dropping first part to the 4th season...full of what made this show the success it is today, drama, complex storyline, and all in all fabulous acting especially Felicity Huffman and Eve Longoria Parker who just make it, Marcia Cross steals scenes several times through this episode...and although i feel that Susan doesn't have much to do...Teri just pulls off her scenes in a greatly comical fashion..Lynette has been through a lot this season and she handles the drama of this storyline with Kayla( devil child),its so very hard hitting and extremely true to life.
all in all The Gun Song is yet another triumphant episode of the season,but...

Free(2)-3/5-The Gun Song was a triumphant episode from beginning to end and left a pretty grim & shocking cliffhanger that left me in awe for this finale.
my,my was i dissappointed...season 4 seemed to have a level of darkness for Katherines storyline, and i loved the clashes between her Bree and once with Lynette (see Art Aint Easy), but this finale left some what dissappointed and when compared to the previous three finales it seemed a little open handed and a bit two dimensional...but the scene with Katherine struggling for her life and the 'fab 4' sticking by her side to take on Adam was a particularly striking scene in this episode...but after the splendidly made The Gun Song this episode seemed too rushed in one 1/2 of the episode then well filmed for a couple scenes and then all of a sudden we are all catapulted forward 5 years, this in my opinion should have been left for season 5...but i am gearong up for the fifth season which looks like it is gonna be pretty impressive.

come on Channel 4 i'm waiting!!!

buy this season today for a good time:):)...it is recommended for a reason.

Fabulous!
Review date: 2008-06-08 Rating: 10 out of 10

Season 4 of Desperate Housewives is easily the best season to date. A huge shame that there are only 17 episodes (due to the writer's strike) but what a 17 episodes they were!
This season included the tornado episode, "09x04 Something's Coming", the most expensive episode yet (due to all the special effects) and the the second best episode over all, the best being "07x03 BANG", the supermarket hostage episode. You need this DVD for that episode alone!

The main mystery of the season, involving the new neighbours was amazing. The best yet.

A truly fab season. The writer's excelled themselves this year.

Season Four is the best yet!
Review date: 2008-05-27 Rating: 10 out of 10

Desperate Housewives has stepped up a notch for its fourth season with the regulars still on Wisteria Lane and some new additions thrown in to shake things up. Lynette's beaten her cancer, Gabi's back with Carlos, Bree's happy as a 'new' mother, Susan is expecting a baby with Mike and Edie, well, she's still the Edie we hate to love.

This season has been the most addictive and funniest yet and has had loads of twists and turns along the way. I can't wait until the DVD comes out!
