Creepy Under-The-Skin Horror
Review date: 2008-12-02 Rating: 6 out of 10
There is something freaky and disturbing about the abandoned, it's not your average horror movie but it does get under your skin. My mother hated it, she didn't like their soulless eyes and the whole creepiness of it. And she's seen some real bad horror movies of her day! I must admit there was something horrible about it, though it took a while to get going and the ending was pretty grim. It's worth seeing if you want to get creeped out more than scared, a lot of darkness and terror is high in this so it's not rubbish but not great. Better than some of the horror movies I have seen lately.

lacks terror that i was hoping for!Review date: 2008-11-17 Rating: 6 out of 10I spent most of this film concentrating on the annoying lead female who was rude, abnoxious and seemed to enjoy solo screen time more than any other character. She also favoured being a horrible cow to the male character which did my head in!The storyline however although making me jump occasionally lacked any actual terror which would cause me to turn the light on. I had heard many postive reviews about this film and to be honest I couldn't really match them to the movie. There just appeared to be elements of 'seen this all before' and nods towards Japanese haunted films of which there are an awful lot. I came away from the film believing I had seen it before because of the familiarities. Don't get me wrong, it had a few freaky parts, but for the majority I was just wishing it was over and that the lead women would never be in another film!Dont botherReview date: 2008-09-24 Rating: 4 out of 10I had heard pretty good reviews about this film.. I was totally boerd! the storyline was dull and the characters were dull.. Not at all creepy or spooky.. Tries too hard to be arty and scarey!!Not worth buying. Review date: 2008-09-22 Rating: 2 out of 10This is really poor; dont waste your time or your money. I love horror films so felt really let down by the acting/effects/plot (was there one?!) - I wouldnt recommend this. Atmospheric but Disappointing Haunted House FilmReview date: 2008-07-11 Rating: 6 out of 10This film starts well and builds nicely as an American woman in her early 40's returns to the Russia of her birth seeking answers to her family history. Before long she is making her way to the place where she was born, deep in the Russian countryside, only to be abandoned by her driver and left to wander the ruins of her family home on her own.
So far, so good. Unfortunately, no amount of scares and gore make up for the clear 'spoilers' that then give away the ending of the film! Lots of dark corridors, noises overhead, rooms going back in time 40 years and reliving of the horrors of the past give this film brilliant atmosphere, but the ending has been spelt out to the viewer and there are no final twists in this tale.
Good as part of a viewing double bill perhaps, but ultimately a disappointment.
