Big Improvement Over Season 3...
Review date: 2008-05-10 Rating: 8 out of 10
If David Peckinpah is the destroyer of season three, then new co-executive producer Marc Scott Zicree is the saviour of season four. Although a very different show from it's original premise, season four of Sliders is a much more consistent and well written season than much of the previous season. B-movie rip-offs are replaced by original sci-fi stories and poorly computer generated monsters are replaced by intelligent character development. Kari Wuhrer's character has been given a complete overhaul. Gone is the loud, obnoxious (and much hated) military hot head from season three. Now she's given a more caring and believable persona, sometimes becoming more compelling than previous female lead Wade Welles. This is perhaps Sliders last great season. The fifth and final season has some good ideas, but the loss of lead character Quinn Mallory and his on screen and off screen brother dug the series into a huge hole that it would never recover from.

So here it isReview date: 2008-04-23 Rating: 10 out of 10So here it is finally the fourth & pinultimate season of sliders on DVD As well as this being Jerry O'Connells last season we would see his real life brother Charlie join the cast as Quinns brother Colin also returning are Kari Wuhrer who joined the cast when John Rhys Davies left also not returning is Sabrina Lloyd who character Wade has being kidnapped by the evil Kromaggs but we have not lost Cleavant Derricks who returns as Rembrandt Crying Man Brown in all his glory as i have suterly mentioned just before the kromaggs return in a story which would run through this season & next as they have taken over earth prime lets hope the 5th & final season is also released soon. Not the best - but still watchableReview date: 2008-04-19 Rating: 6 out of 10A reviewer on here says that John Rhys Davies was axed in favour of Kahri Wuhrer purely to up the "t&a" quotient. This isn't true - he left because of the Kromagg storyline in season two / three (the stand alone episode). He hated the direction the show was about to take (more Kromagg storylines) and he let the writers know this before he left. I'm not sure why the woman who plays Wade left. It was probably the same reason! They wanted it to be like the early seasons and they were right! Season one to three are far superior. There's some good episodes in the fourth season and some poor episodes. Overall it's worth buying to continue your collection. Jerry O'Connell is still in this season and Sliders just isn't Sliders without him. As we'd find out in season 5!
Sliders series 4Review date: 2008-04-07 Rating: 6 out of 10I watched the whole of this series back when it was on tv and I have to say that series 4, despite it's issues and the lack of the excellent Arturo, was all around good tv. I'll be ordering this boxed set just so I can watch a much darker, grittier version of an awesome sci fi show play itself out on my tv again.
HANDS UP IF YOU WANT SLIDERS AND FIREFLY TO GET ANOTHER SERIES!Enjoyable but flawedReview date: 2008-03-25 Rating: 6 out of 10After Season 3 of Sliders the show was axed by Fox but luckily for fans the show was saved by the Sci Fi channel.
Season 3 was a changeover year for Sliders and unfortunately Season 4 suffers in its wake. The show moved away from the more intelligent allegorical stories that were prevalent in the first two seasons and replaced it with glossy and flash sci-fi fantasy stuff that was passable but not particularly gripping. Production moved from San Francisco to Sunny California so it lost a lot of its atmosphere and mood, and the excellent John Rhys Davies was axed in favour of Kahri Wuhrer purely to up the "t&a" quotient.
So with Season 4 the move also lost Sabrina Lloyd as the female lead, making it even more of an uphill struggle. The producers decided to focus on the alien Kromaggs (a one off in Season 2) to try and give the show some focus, and added Jerry O'Connel's real life brother Nick to play Quinn's brother-from-another-world to replace Lloyd.
All in all Season 4 has a better mix of tales than Season 3, but its still not great, and unfortunately the show would never again reach the heights of its first two seasons.
