Hi-de-Hi! is a British sitcom that aired on BBC1 from 1980 to 1988. Set in a 1950s holiday camp, it was written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft, The title was the phrase used to greet the campers at events. The inspiration for the series was drawn from the real-life experiences of writers Perry and Croft.
This innocent, but very good humour. It simply makes you laugh a lot or smile. The cast is just brilliant and portray their characters to perfection. However Ruth Madoc as Gladys Pugh, the chief yellowcoat, is in this series just amazing.
But I cannot help I like Su Pollard best as Peggy Ollerenshaw, the potty Peggy was the chalet maid. Just watch when she gives her acceptance speech for an imaginary prize she has won. Hillarious.

Brilliant as usual. I wish there were comedies like this now. I agree with the previous review, that this was expensive for only one series.
But none the less i bought it and loved every epsisode. The cast are brilliant and the storylines both hysterical and in some cases quite sad. What i like the best, is it shows true frienship and people looking out for one another, something today's so called comedies lack.
Only 6 Episodes!!? Rip Off!!

I love Hi De Hi and all these type of shows and had to have this DVD to add to my collection, but this price is outrageous for just 6 episodes (18.99 at time of writing). All the other Hi De Hi DVD's have contained 2 series which consisted of at least 12 episodes and were around the same price as this when they were initially released, so in my opinion this is way over priced. The content on the DVD is as good as always with Hi De Hi and as an avid fan I had to buy this to continue with my set. Some good news though - according to the BBC, Series 8&9 which concludes this series will be released later in 2008 or 2009.
