It's about time too

I am a huge fan of this show, and have been for sometime. It's great to finally hear thier bringing season four out.. Fianlly! But I do not look forward to season five.. mainly because I think when a show loses it's main cast, it should just end, not bring in new people to play old charactors. For me, when John Rhys-Davies left the show, that was bad enough. I was still glad Jerry was there to keep it strong, but alas, he soon left the show too and things just went downhill.
If they ever intend on doing a one off episode or a movie to tie up loose ends, they better get the original cast from season one, or they need not bother picking up a pen to write it. The original cast is by far the best, so season four will be the last season of sliders in my mind..

Season 4 - Under-Rated
Review date: 2008-01-15 Rating: 8 out of 10

Although some fans may disagree, I thought the fourth season of Sliders was a real turn around for the series after the appauling third season. Of course it's a shame that by this point John Rhys-Davis (Professor Arturo) and Sabrina Lloyd (Wade Welles) are no longer a part of the series, but writers have finally managed to make something of Kari Wuhrer's character, Maggie Beckett and the introduction of Jerry O'Connell's (Quinn Mallory) real life brother Charlie as his on-screen brother Colin Mallory made-up the best character combination since the original four. Genuine attempts were made to restore the series to it's roots by offering original and interesting parallel dimensions for the sliders to explore. A new aspect that I enjoyed involved a season-long arc with new villains, the Kromaggs (first introduced in the second season) and several brilliant character-centered storylines that gave the cast numerous opportunities to show their talents. Unfortunately, the season lost it's way a bit towards the end after the planned conlusion to the arc was abandoned. Jerry and Charlie would then leave by the fifth season, leaving a number of story threads unresolved and this fan disappointed. I would welcome a revival of sliders, but only as a remake or an entirely new show. Too much had gone wrong by the end for any kind of satisfactory continuation. Still, if you've been collecting Sliders on DVD, I'd definately recommend the fourth season and would hope that fans come to realise how much better it is than the third season.

At Last!

Great, they're finally bringing out Sliders Season 4, and as the previous reviewer said hopefully Season 5 will follow. I always liked this series when it was on TV, its not brilliantly written although the acting is generally pretty good with respect to the original cast. At the end of the day its just one of those si-fi series made for Friday/Saturday TV entertainment, nothing more nothing less. As for the notion that a new series will be made to "tie up" loose ends, errrr...yeah right? However, the idea of a new Sliders film would be great.
