The 'Nice' Jim Davidson of old...
Review date: 2008-08-05 Rating: 8 out of 10
For those judging Jim Davidson on his later efforts & many home video stand-up routines, well forget that Jim D. This is the nicer person, the 'Big Break' side of his nature.
The cheeky-lad mildly-farcical comedy may have seemed a little dated for 1983-1985, more in a style of a mid-late 70s comedy, but it's a nice show to watch. The amount of now-well known faces is very high, including Anita Dobson, Sue Nicholls, John Bardon in regular roles also Brian Capron, Christopher Ellison & even a cameo by Linda Robson.
The show is set mainly in Jim's house or in a Pub, the house is set near a railway in South London's Elephant & Castle, yet you hear not a sound of anything! The days of cheap silent background productions! By this it does limit itself a bit & can be a bit shallow in content.
But all 3 series for under £15 of a once rare ITV sitcom is a good buy & having watched the 1st series & liked it, I think you will too.
