This is the DVD to order if you are looking for something a little classier than the average 'chick-flick', to enjoy on the weekend over a bottle of wine.
The storyline isn't one that holds immediate promise - a couple in an adulterous relationship meet once a year - but this film is so much more than that. Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn should have won Oscars for this - it is wonderfully acted. The characters are fully rounded and believeable, drawing us in and making us care about them. They change over the years - greatly - but their love for each other remains constant. I just adore this film.

"Same Time, Next Year" is the most wonderful romantic comedy I have ever watched on the screen. I could not help but feel nostalgic and identify with the characters as they take us on a time voyage from 1951 to 1977. The characters develop beautifully together and yet when at times they grow apart, the strong commitment that only true lovers feel brings them back together. The film was shot on location in Mendocino, Northern California, and Mr. Alda and Miss Burstyn succeed in injecting drama and comedy masterfully in every scene. I recommend it highly.

Hurrah at last!!!! I have been waiting for this film to be put onto DVD so that I can buy copies for all of my friends! I saw this film when it was released (a few years ago!) and loved it sooo much. It has always stayed with me and if anyone asks me what my favourite film is I have always said this one even though most people had never heard of it. Anyway having purchased it now and watched it-it remains as good now as it was then. I thought that it may have been a bit dated and cheesy but no it is a very romantic funny and clever film in that the whole film only ever stars Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn and takes you through their 26 year relationship linked together with black and white photos of news history 1950's - 1970's. Brilliant! Enjoy!

I saw this movie years and years ago and remember laughting so much. It left a strong memory with me. Always been a great fan of Alan Alda.
