I love this film, but, this DVD is awful! It's cropped to 4:3, and, possibly, the most blurry film I own. Don't buy this version, it's a rip off!

this was another present from my kids to their dad on fathers day he loves old films, also black and white movies as well.this film also shows Burt Lancaster`s prowess as an acrobat he also brings comedy into this type of film.
Classic but a bit more dated than most

More dated than I expected and a bit too corny for me. While I like classic movies of this era and have quite a few in my collection it is unilkely that I will watch this one again. My 11 year old daughter also watched this with me but I think because the story was not so great the gap between this movie and the first "Pirates of the Carribean" is ultimately huge even allowing for the heavy effects of todays movies. I cannot see too many wanting to be like the Crimson pirate but I know there are plenty who fancy themselves as Capt Jack Sparrow.

Burt Lancaster and the crew made this movie entertaining with the comedy sketches and idea's as this show was made without all the special effects as most are made of to-day its worth watching if you like pirate shows

Forty four years of films with Birdman from Alcatraz topping them all.
These films will be watched for generations to come.
Worthy of a place in my DVD collection any time.
