Original, but a little disappointing!
Review date: 2008-09-05 Rating: 6 out of 10
The plot is fairly original, although I'm not totally convinced at Lindsay Lohan as an adult actress. The blue that others are going on about is another example of how this film tries to be clever but unfortunately falls short. It's supposed to give you a subtle clue as to who is behind the murders, a little like the red that is done a lot better in `Sixth Sense'.
So whilst the film is entertaining, you have to not think too much about it as you are left with a lot of questions that Hollywood decide not to answer in order to keep the plot simple. The good girl and bad girl didn't work for me as Aubrey didn't seem that geeky, and therefore Dakota wasn't that rebellious. And even as a male, I didn't see the point of 3 long scenes of Lindsay as a stripper, especially as she remains in the same outfit as on the cover for the whole time, and thus added nothing more for the film or it's plot.
It's better than a lot of films, and there are some nice flashes of gore that catch you unexpectedly, however ultimately it's a DVD that I'll pass on and not keep in my collection.

Good Story, Bad ActingReview date: 2008-05-21 Rating: 8 out of 10I decided to give this a chance despite the horrible reviews it seemed to get in every magazine and on every TV show. I'm glad I decided to give it a go as the story is actually rather original (in my opinion anyway) and has a few interesting twists in it.
Aubrey, (portrayed by Lindsay Lohan) is a senior high school student with an acceptance to Yale, and a talent for writing. Everything is cut short when she's abducted after a school football game, and is missing for two weeks.
By chance a woman finds the body of a girl in a ditch off the side of the road and takes her to the hospital - Aubrey has been found, however she's missing a hand, and a leg. Not only can she not remember what happened to her or why, but she claims she's not even Aubrey, that she's actually Dakota Moss, a teenage stripper daughter of a dead crack addict from a whole other city nowhere near where Aubrey lived. She's never heard of Aubrey, she doesn't know Aubrey's family or boyfriend, and her personality is the complete opposite of the girl she's thought to be.
As a horror story or suspense thriller (whatever you wish to peg it) this is an interesting twist on conventionality. A few things were never touched upon but it doesn't detract from an otherwise good movie.
One thing however that will spoil the movie for most - and nearly did for me - is Lindsay Lohan's portrayal of Aubrey/Dakota. She's an actress out of her depths here and I feel she only possibly took this role to prove she's not a little girl anymore. However, her performance is wooden and awkward, her representation of pain, suffering and most importantly fear, is half-hearted and her dialogue very stiff and unnatural - it felt forced as if she's trying too hard to be anything other than the comedic teen stereotype she has fallen into.
This gets four stars from me just because I hadn't seen a story like it yet.
Lindsay Lohan Can Act!Review date: 2008-05-03 Rating: 8 out of 10There is no doubt that Lindsay Lohan is a good actress. OK this film had a bit of a strange ending, with the viewer not really knowing whether there was another clone of Dakota/Aubrey actually writing the film. It has some unanswered questions for me at the end. What was the reason for the colour blue? Did the other victim stop wanting to be a piano player and was targetted by the teacher. Who was the other girl who was missing?
I would have preferred some answers rather than a picture of the two girls being reunited at the end. But the film was entertaining, it was gripping. The scenes of the torture were well acted by Lohan. And you were left thinking about the end. In fact I watched it twice and enjoyed it both times.
This girl has had a lot of bad press and probably deserves some of it - but don't forget, she wasn't the only known actor in this film, Julia Ormond to name one.
If you are a Lohan fan and want to see her progression into the adult world of film, then give this a view and don't take the opinion of the paid reviewers who have an axe to grind.Very Good!!!Review date: 2008-04-16 Rating: 8 out of 10Dispite others reviews i thought this was a clever movie and totally unexpected.
The only problem i had with this movie is what the hell is with all the blue!
All in all well worth watching. plus i usually like the movies that others hate lolnot ashamed!Review date: 2008-03-11 Rating: 8 out of 10contrary to other people telling me it's rubbish i really enjoyed the film!i think it's a bit of a confusing twist which really kept me hooked until the end. I think it was great!
