This box set is an excellent buy for anyone who has seen and enjoyed the saw films, or like me, had seen the first three, but not the fourth and didn't own any of them.
They are all very well written and produced, each sharing its own twisting plot involving the charactors; which often refers to the previous installments in the sequels. This makes it essential really that you need to see them from the beginning to get the full gist of what's going on and truly get the most out of the storyline.
There's not much to say about the plot without giving too much away. The main character has a terminal illness and decides to spend the rest of his days testing the will of other humans; needless to say this involves a series of disturbing obstacles that his subjects must overcome, often forcing them to part with limbs or mutilate themselves in some way in order to survive/stay alive.
Although some bits are hard to watch, you have to admire the way everything is thought out and how it all comes together. It is not a horror film, but more like a psychological thriller in the way that it makes you think more than it will scare you. Not once is it particularly scary. Disturbing to some maybe, but not scary.
So all in all, I gave it 5 stars, although I would have given them each individually somewhere between 4 and 5; but altogether they are well worth the 5 stars and the money I paid for them.
Buy it if you watched and liked the rather feeble 'Hostel' and you can stand consistant and copious amounts of gore, or if you simply watched one or read about one and fancy seeing them all.

The saw films are a most see for any horror/gore fan. At this price its well worth the buy.
A Fantastic Box-Set

I bought this from Amazon a few weeks ago and I was not disappointed, the films are great and they all made my stomach turn one way or another.
Saw- A great start for the franchise, Saw had a creepy atmosphere and many gory and sick traps.
Saw 2- My personal favourite of the films, Saw 2 had more characters in Jigsaws traps ,which were more sadistic than they were in the first film, the needle pit sent shivers down my spine.
Saw 3- Not as good as the first two but Saw 3 still had its fair share of blood and pig guts!!
Saw 4- In my opinion, the weakest of the films as most of the film was flashbacks to Jigsaws past saying why he did what he did to people but this film has my favourite death in the whole series in it, involving two blocks of ice!!
This box set is a great buy but be warned, these films are not for the squemish!!!

Chances are you've already got one or two of these already. You'd actually save some cash if you bought them separately. Add on to the fact that this box set does not contain the Directors cut of Saw III (released at the same time at this box). The included Saw II is also the first release - not the directors cut. Lazy and yet greedy marketing, but then what else would you expect from Lions Gate/EV. Skip it.

The first is a classic by anyones standards. The second and third are decent enough but a little predictable in terms of where they go. The fourth I thought was much better but not as good as the original. Although to be fair its always hard to live up to the first. For £30 its definitely worth buying this box set and its a must for any fans of psychological horrors.
