Amazon.co.uk Review
The soaring career of Shia LaBeouf was powered in no small way by Disturbia, an effective surprise hit thriller that he headlines alongside Carrie-Anne Moss and David Morse. Covering ground previous trodden by the likes of Hitchcock’s Rear Window, Disturbia finds LaBeouf’s Kale, a year after the death of his father, subjected to house arrest. And as cabin fever sets in, he starts to look out of his window and spy on his neighbours. As you do.
This is, naturally, where the problems soon begin. Because Kale soon starts to get suspicious of the antics of the quiet Mr Turner, played by David Morse, eventually convincing himself that his neighbour is, in fact, a killer.
This fairly straightforward plot, however, is then mined effectively by a talented cast and director D J Caruso. And Disturbia, to its credit, has its fair share of bumps and jumps along the way, working best when it plays things low key.
It doesn’t, ultimately, manage to prolong the suspense it generates for the full running time, and neither is it a top grade thriller. But Disturbia is still good at what it does do: serving up solid entertainment, a few thrills, and showcasing one of cinema’s fast-rising talents. Well worth a watch. --Jon Foster
spy on your neighbours, get the girl!!!

I really like the actor David Morse and he steals the show here. Well Labeouf is pretty good here too, in a very boy-next-door way, but Morse is genuinely frightening. The plot unravels in a pretty shoddy way. I mean what happens at the end? I understand it's a fun film but none of the characters look at all shaken up by what's happened; it's a bit sick actually, as if this is what happens regularly.
much camper than rear window, and downright silly in places, it is worth a watch, if that's your cup of tea and i have to admit it is mine.

Jumpy!Review date: 2008-10-18 Rating: 8 out of 10Well, I really enjoyed this film! Saw it a couple of months ago but its memorable - surely the mark of a good film if ever there was one! LaBeouf does what he does best - kind of funny, sulky teenager who's been a bit naughty. Bound under house arrest he spends his day spying on his hot neighbour on one side and the murderous monster who lives on the other side! When the guy starts dating LaBeouf's mum he's obviously not very happy about the situation! In a bit to find out more of what he's been up to, young LaBeouf recruits his friends to investigate the house, dig up any old skeletons in the cupboard so to speak! Very jumpy towards the end, I really enjoyed it, its definitely worth a watch!average stuffReview date: 2008-10-13 Rating: 6 out of 10I was expecting to be blown away with this film, but it left not much of an impression on my mind. I do find myself agreeing with another reviewer that there are similarities to rear window but i would rate that classic and brilliant film a five instead of this.SLB was fairly good in the part, he was mildly witty and fairly impressive as the hormonal teenager kept in his room and witnessing dreadful things across the road in the opposite house, however with a curfew and an electronic tag that reacts to any movement over a certain distance he is pretty much kept prisoner. It was a pleasant way to pass the time but i would not attempt to watch it again. HITCHCOCK RIP-OFF !!Review date: 2008-09-09 Rating: 2 out of 10Utter trash. And to get straight to the point - it is clearly a rip-off of the classic Alfred Hitchcock thriller "Rear Window".
Do yourself a favour and buy the original Rear Window if you want a good, intelligent suspense-filled thiller.
Forget Shia LaBoof and watch a real actor, a real man, show you how it's done - James Stewart.Pretty goodReview date: 2008-06-14 Rating: 8 out of 10First off, this is a well-made movie with a good script and cast. Shia LaBeouf is totally believable as the teenager trying to coping with the loss of his father and lead a normal life.
When he suspects his neighbour of being a serial killer, the momentum really picks up, with some great scenes of tension as he goes about trying to prove his theory. The character of Ronald, who is Kale's best friend, is one of the best sidekick characters I've seen for ages and helps the main characters coalesce.
I agree with a previous reviewer who said the film doesn't know what it is....comedy/thriller/horror...and it's fair to say I would have loved to have been scared more, but all in all, this was a good effort.
