First rate western shines on blu-ray

Seraphim Falls is a welcome addition to the western genre and with time will overcome the negative initial critics reviews to reveal itself as a fine piece of cinematography to accompany what is probably Brosnan's best performance on film to date as a man mercilessly hunted down by Liam Neesom's character as a man on a mission of personal vengeance. The manhunt starts off on the high, snowy sierras then gradually moves down to the lowlands and finishes off on barren, hazy salt flats with some suitably surreal moments. The attractive score is pure quality. The picture and audio is wonderfully rendered on this HD blu-ray widescreen transfer. The BD has the same paucity of extras as the DVD release, but includes a commentary and all to brief behind the scenes featurette. Recommended blu-ray viewing.
