I first heard Marty Wilde on radio around 1958 and then on tv in six Five Special and Oh Boy. It wasn't until the late 60s that I saw him live. Decades went by before I saw him again, this time touring with his old stable mate Jo Brown. I'd forgotten just how great a performer he was and still is with his voice as strong and distinctive as ever and covering a wide range of styles. When they were first starting out Cliff Richard and Marty inevitably were rivals but cliff has graciously gone on record as saying that of all of those early British rockers, Marty had the best voice. He also had hits in 1957 BC (before Cliff!) After seeing him with Joe I bought his "Best of" CD but was even more delighted by news of the 50th Anniversary DVD and it didn't disappoint. What a night and what a lineup, and no egos! This was a group of friends sharing a passion for great music and that really came across. Jet Harris even provided some great dead-pan, self-deprecating humour as well as reminding us what an innovative player he was and still is. Marty was in top form and the duets with his daughters were a delight to see and hear. For a man of 68 he he might just as well have been 18, although his voice is probably even better now. Also, his modesty, sincerity and sheer passion for his music make him a true star who has never had the recognition he so deserves. This is borne out in the accompanying Interviews DVD which gives a great insight. Buy this DVD and see for yourself!

for us to enjoy again and again.Songs from right through his career and
joined by the original Wildcats Big Jim Sullivan,Brian Bennett and Liquorice
Locking (yep, the two who went onto fame with The Shadows),Jet Harris with his really dry sense of humour and great music,to Bruce Welch and Hank Marvin (The Shadows) not to mention Marty,s very talented daughters,Kim surely still one of the best voices around. What a concert, but wait theres more,a wonderful second disc of interviews, plus a tour of Marty,s office area with all his gold discs as well as Kims, his collection of all the guitars he,s had and played over the years.I cxould go on and on,but take it from me it's the best music DVD of 2007,because this music is ageless
and Marty Wlide deserves a Queens honour for bringing so far fifty years
of wonderful music and such a really nice guy with it,thanks Marty.
