Bloody sequels
Review date: 2008-09-21 Rating: 4 out of 10

Don't get me wrong. Giving this two stars doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it but it wasn't in the same league, for me, as the first. There was far more blood letting and, ostensibly, more excitement but I struggled to gain any feeling for the characters and therefore wasn't bothered whether they lived or died. Particularly Steve Braun's "funny" guy. I'd have led him to the trap myself within five minutes. The first WT was tense and tighter all round with a real sense of menace whereas this was played more for laughs and increasingly meant to shock set pieces. Having said that I enjoyed it for what it was. I took Henry Rollins' Rambo style character with a pinch of salt and enjoyed him. You'd hope there was someone with balls around if you were ever in a similar situation. The only bit which I found really disturbing was the hillbillies kissing - that really turned my stomach! The dining table scene seemed to be lifted straight out of Texas Chainsaw Massacre but that's OK - it's just a film! The usual mixture of kids in the woods (sexy minx, funny guy, hero, tough girl, disturbed girl, soft girl etc) attempting to escape from the trip from hell: lots of blood, very little suspense and an ending which hints at a third one.

Great sequel
Review date: 2008-09-01 Rating: 8 out of 10

Wrong Turn 2 Dead End takes everything that was great about Wrong Turn and adds more of it to create a film that is just as good, if not better than the first. More blood and gore, more characters, more mutants and a longer running time. The best sequel I have seen in a long time.

Not much wrong here

I don't understand the big problem that people have with this film. The first film I admit was very original and very tense, not to mention controversial and slightly depraved (all good things within a horror film I might add). Naturally, in a sequel, you need to push the boundaries further. When I read comments (and there are a few about this movie) that state the film wasn't 'funny', it just gets me angry. This is a horror movie, not a comedy. Violence is only funny when it is done badly, and although this film has it's moments where scenes aren't as 'realistic' as one might want to imagine, it has no way been created in such a way as to be viewed as comical.

All that aside, I think this film is an excellent sequel. Some subtle links to the first movie, but would also work as a stand alone (Similar to the Hills Have Eyes films). The violence and action is non stop, from start until finish, and some very imaginative death scenes are displayed. The acting isn't excellent, although rather impressive for a modern day horror sequel, and the 'hillbillies' are subtly and disturbingly effective in their manor and appearance.

In some ways, this film is better than the first, I felt that the first was a bit slow, with far too many scenes almost 'dragging'. This films pace was a lot quicker.

All in all, a very impressive sequel for modern day horror. Wrong Turn was a controversial film, and Wrong Turn 2 does not disappoint in pushing the boundaries to the limit. I would say that it is definitely on a par with the first, let's just hope that if they decide to make a Wrong Turn 3, that they can keep up the good work

Disappointing Sequel
Review date: 2008-06-22 Rating: 6 out of 10

Gave this 3 stars but only just-def not as good as first movie- more gore does not mean a better movie & that's what you've got here plus some really dislikeable victims. This is a horror movie that is trying to appeal to the basic instincts of a teenage boy with a low IQ!

BAD SEQUEL TO A GREAT FILM!!!!!
Review date: 2008-06-18 Rating: 2 out of 10

THIS HAS TO BE THE WORST SEQUEL TO A FILM EVER, OVER THE TOP GORE AND VIOLENCE AND FOR NO GOOD REASON.
TAKE NOTICE OF THE DVD TITLE EXTREME EDITION, MORE LIKELY EXTREME RUBBISH!!!!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!
