Does its job- not particularly special...

This DVD is fun for the first few times of doing it but once you know all the routines it can be a little tedious. The instructor was a little irritating and the bias of camera focus towards one dancer (the one with red, crimpled hair) was so obvious that at times it distracted from the routine. The barre and floor section is great. I wouldn't say you have to be a professional dancer to be able to use these DVDs. I'm not. But you do need the ability to pick up dance steps fairly quickly- so a dance background does help.
The soundtrack is pretty horrendous apart from the 'Fame' track they only use at the end- made a little more difficult to get me motivated.
Overall, I'd recommend buying another fitness DVD out there because I'm sure there are many that are more fun, that you don't get bored of quickly and just generally better.

Best exercise DVD I've seen in a whileReview date: 2008-04-21 Rating: 8 out of 10If you liked aerobics in the 80's and can pick up a dance step, you should enjoy this. The presenter is good and there are more safety teaching points than I have heard in some recent DVD's.
Each dance routine is taught and repeated 4 times within the body of the music and at quite a fast pace - I prefer this as I feel I am working out while I learn, rather than wasting time going slowly to pick up steps. Then each segment is put together and repeated before moving on to the next part.
The barre is a little hard if you have a carpeted floor, your foot may drag. And the counting out loud for the abs routine makes it sound like St Trinians, but is actually useful as you don't have to keep looking at the screen to keep up.
It's a good combination of up tempo dance, ballet and stretch.
I feel sorry for the girls sitting round the edge of the dance studio, they look bored - I'm sure they would rather have joined in!Inspired!Review date: 2008-04-09 Rating: 10 out of 10I appreciate that this DVD will be difficult for people that don't have a dance background but I absolutely love it. I was a big fan of the original show and the music in the DVD really inspires me to keep working-out even when I'm tired. I would definately recommend this for people who have moderate dance experience who are fans of the original TV series and soundtracks.A good all over body workoutReview date: 2008-04-05 Rating: 6 out of 10The routines are split into phases which once mastered can become a bit boring as the insturctor repeats them about 4 times each section. I was a bit disappointed by the soundtrack used as it was a bit cheesey, like supermarket music and the FAme theme tune is only used at the end. The barre workout is really effective and the stomach exercises really help you to tone lower abs. I think the instructor lacked a bit of personality which make this DVD a bit dull. I have to leave it a while between using this DVD becasue you get bored of it easily; however when you do it from beginning to end you really do feel energised. It gets easier! Review date: 2008-03-09 Rating: 8 out of 10I've just bought this DVD and I too, was really annoyed at first at how hard it seemed even for me, as I have had quite a bit of dance experience too! But stick with it the steps aren't really that difficult once you have done the dvd through a few times. The ballet & floor section are quite good giving a whole range of stretches and the remobiliser bit makes u feel recharged! Once you master the steps, doing the whole routine in one go at the end (in the Freestyle section) is really satisfying!
Definitely worthwhile, however you do need a bit of patience to master the steps. Remember it probably took the dancers in the dvd ages to learn the routine - so keep at it!
