Make-up artist is NOT chloe butcher but LIZ MARTINS
Review date: 2008-09-17 Rating: 10 out of 10

just a quick observation but the girls make-up artist is in fact Liz Martins and NOT chloe, if you watch the interview and read the credits it states that. She has been working with the girls for 3 years now.

Greatest hits videos!
Review date: 2008-09-03 Rating: 10 out of 10

i agree with the previous review, it should be marketed as a Greatest hits video as the style tips are a blatant advert for many make up and fashion companies, the girls are constantly namedropping and giving the prices of various products. go straight to the videos and dance round the house!!!

Amazing DVD - pure heaven for Girls Aloud fans!

I think it's something we've all wondered to ourselves, how do Girls Aloud look so damn good all the time? Well, Style goes a fair way to shedding some light on this question and is an immensely enjoyable watch for all fans of the band. Girls can learn from the plentiful fashion and beauty tips our 5 fave pop princesses provide while us guys can just sit back and simply admire how beautiful Cheryl, Nadine, Nicola, Sarah and Kimberley are while listening to them chat away - Seriously, i could listen to them talking all day about anything!

You see, where this DVD succeeds is on what made the girls so popular in the first place - they've got an attitude to them, a savvyness to modern life that totally comes through in these delightful little videos. But i'm getting ahead of myself... I'll give a quick little note about the music videos - any GA fan will know these like the back of their hand already but its really good to have them all one one DVD for the first time and the added commentary from Cheryl and Sarah is a must listen.

The style section of the DVD kicks off with the Girls describing the general way fashion links in with their career as popstars and look back over their old single covers. And as becomes clear in the commentary to the music videos, there's quite a few old outfits they are very vocal about. Trust me, the look on Cheryl's face at some of the covers from the first album is worth the price of the DVD alone as she exclaims 'th-th-thats not me!!!'

We then go through each Girl's 'style guide', each one focusing on a different area. Cheryl's up first with tips about make-up. Firstly, it deserves a mention that she actually starts off wearing no make-up at all which is damn brave for a popstar being filmed (not that she needs make-up, Cheryl looks stunning all the time!). Cheryl tells us about the essentials she always carries with her in her make-up bag and we then get to see her trying on the cool feathery eyelashes from the Sexy! No No No video.

Next up is Kimberley - along with her sister - guides us through internet shopping as she prepares for a wedding. Us GA fans all know Kimberley as the sensible, rational one and its this personality we see, nice and re-assuring as she tells us how to ensure we end up with an ace outfit. We then have Sarah going round a couple of shops and picking up some nice accessories.

We then have Nadine. Now, her section has some real highlights in it. There's a shot of her bedroom and on the floor she selects a pair of shoes from a massive selection of at least 15 pairs all neatly laid out in a corner. She then goes down to a shoe shop with her sister and in her characteristically animated way simutaneously exclaims her love for heels while on the otherhand expressing complete bewilderment as to why anyone would buy Crocs - amazing!

Lastly we have Nicola who is determined to find the perfect pair of jeans. Like Nadine, Nicola is very clear about speaking her mind on what she doesn't like - according to her, jeans without pockets are a complete no-no. Then we return to all the Girls for a brief run-down on perfume before recapping all their tips again.

Through all the sections there's also the classic fashion programme inserts detailing the name of the product, where to get it and its price which i imagine is very helpful for girls wanting to emulate any of the outfits on here. All of the Girls throughout the DVD stress the importance of different looks for different occasions, eg. a 'going out shopping' look vs. a 'night out on the town' look.

Summing up, it's simply a joy to see the 5 Girls discussing something they are clearly interested in - there's no hammy lines here, they speak confidently and are very knowledgable about all the subjects they cover. It's also really nice to see them acknowledge that they are role models to so many young people and with them looking as fab as they do on here, it's no wonder why! Essential viewing for any Girls Aloud fan - a must buy!

Helpful hints and a whole lotta (fashion) history...
Review date: 2008-02-01 Rating: 8 out of 10

I got given this as one of my Christmas presents this year (which is just as well, seeing as I asked for it), but because I've been so busy these past few weeks it's only till last night that I've watched it properly all the way through. And, speaking as someone who nearly wore their Off The Record DVD into the ground, this has got to be the best DVD the girls have done so far.

Letting the cameras follow them around once more, "Get Girls Aloud's Style" is an enjoyable, amusing, and very helpful look into what it takes for the girls to look as fabulous as they do, be it for a premiere or for a video shoot (or a night in the tiles, in Sarah's case - sorry Sarah). It begins with the girls sitting around and discussing how their fashion sense has evolved, looking back at their fashion highs (like the red and black pencil skirts from Biology) and their fashion lows (like the spandex and foil nightmares from No Good Advice or, as Nadine says of their first post Popstars final photocall, "those cream and wine things").

And then the DVD is split down into 5 more mini-style guides - first there's Cheryl, with the girls' make up artist Chloe Butcher, who takes an in-depth look at her love of make up plus there's a chance to see where the girls got the eyelashes for the "Sexy! No, No, No..." video.

Then there's Kimberley, who gives advice on clothes shopping on the net whilst trying out a couple of her own online purchases to decipher which'd be best for a friend's wedding. Then Sarah takes us on an accessory spree, as well as to the place where they filmed the Sunsilk advert in West London.

Nadine's section is all about shoes, as we see her with her sister trying numerous pairs of day and evening footwear, as well as launching a full scale rant at Crocs (it's OK, Nadine, I hate them too). And then Nicola goes to find the perfect pair of jeans using a special computer that breaks down all your measurements and stuff.

And then what you do find interesting is the little "Top Tips" sections at the end of each mini-guide, which offer particularly helpful hints like always checking the returns policy of internet sites, never using a shop mirror to judge whether an outfit looks good (I never trust them anyway) and helpful stuff like that.

But then the DVD's piece de resistance has to be the inclusion of all the videos from "Sound Of The Underground" up to "Sexy! No, No, No..." with the option of audio commentary from Cheryl and Sarah - it's interesting to see which ones the girls prefer and certainly, when I look back, I do kind of see why videos like "The Show" and "Something Kinda Ooooh" did look a little bit cheap and rushed. Still, I'm glad I got this DVD, a perfect "night in" DVD for Girls Aloud fans everywhere.

wow. great dvd
