Live in San Francisco
Review date: 2008-08-11 Rating: 10 out of 10
First a word of warning: This album is essentially a re-issue of Neil's Live Rust album with an additional 2 tracks thrown in. So at first glance it's not worth purchasing if you already own the original. However...
The album is on 180g virgin vinyl and appears to have been remastered using the Direct Metal Mastering (DMM) system. Whatever. The result though is quite simply the best sounding live album I have ever had the pleasure to listen to. Pump up the volume on this and you really do feel you are in the auditorium with Neil being no more than 20-30 feet away from you. In comparison with the official album well, there's simply no comparison. This sounds like a completely new album. I can't rate this highly enough.

Rust Never Sleeps - The SoundtrackReview date: 2008-08-07 Rating: 8 out of 10This is not Live Rust 2 but actually the soundtrack to the Rust Never Sleeps DVD. If you've seen the DVD and realised that it's a completely different show to the Live Rust CD, then this is well worth getting. This contains the same songs in the same order as Live Rust, with the addition of Thrasher - with fluffed lyrics, just like on the DVD. The version of Like A Hurricane here is worth the money alone as it really blows away the Live Rust version. Not an essential purchase but if you're a fan you'll want it!rip offReview date: 2008-01-20 Rating: 2 out of 10wow, a live Neil Young show that i dont already own, well no, actually just a repackaged Live Rust,(althogh it does contain two tracks left off the single disk Reprise version-Thrasher and Welfare Mothers, these were on the original double l.p.) with silence breaks between some of the tracks fade in fade out at end of tracks . So unless you want to own a 2 disk bastardised version with a couple of new photo's on the cover and a few sleave notes, stay well clear .I never thought i'd give a Neil album 1 star, doh! p.s. the original Live Rust still retains a maximum 5 stars, go for that instead, or Arc Weld.
Why don't they (the record company) market this as Live Rust with 2 extra tracks and let us decide weather to buy or not, this practice of renaming and repackaging older albums with different titles should be outlawed.
