A well acted film with non stop action from the begining.I did not move out of my chair during the whole film because I was afraid I might miss something. This film is certainly a lot better than any american over the top disaster movie.

London Is Flooded Again.
Review date: 2008-09-05 Rating: 4 out of 10

This is the cut version to what was shown on TV.
As I watched this I rembered what had been cut and this spoilt the story and should have been left in.
The movie is watchable, a bit like the U.K. version of the "Day After Tomorrow"

A wave of disappointment to flood over you....

I had never even heard of this until, one Saturday Afternoon, I rented a DVD from my local shop and saw a trailer for a film called 'Flood'.
Robert Carlyle, Tom Courtney, David Suchet in it. A UK film. The Trailer depicts scenes reminiscent of 'The Day After Tomorrow'. Well, Methinks, 'The Day After Tomorrow' was a bit pants, lets see how the Scenario stands up in good ol' London Town!
Alas! Local DVD store never heard of it!

Ooohh. Good Price. I'll Have It!

Waiting for the delivery, I discover that this is the edited version that was shown on ITV some time back. Originaly some 3 and a half hours in length, it has been trimmed to make a viable DVD release so it can be watched as a 'Feature Film', as such.

This DVD has no Outakes. Heres why....

The Outakes would have consisted of the main stars rolling around in the HUGE amount of money they were paid to appear in this trash, laughing and shouting ' I cant BELIEVE we're getting paid for this!!!'.

I could go on, but its all been said in the other 1 star reviews, (of which, this 'film' does not belong. More like -5 stars).

Avoid. Go down the Pub. Read the book. Go to the kitchen, turn the cold tap on and watch the water go down the plughole for 90 mins. DO SOMETHING. but dont waste your time with this.

Oh. and by the way.... The Thames Barrier takes at least 15 mins for all tide barriers to close. (in an extreme emergency situation) Not 60 seconds, Mr Tony Mitchell.

Don't bother buying this version - get the 2 DVD version ITV showed
Review date: 2008-08-20 Rating: 2 out of 10

For disaster fans this is a very wet blanket offering. This was orginally made as 2 x 2hour serial for ITV. It's very loosely based on the book 'Flood'by Richard Doyle but does not incorporate the fire element nor the reasons why people reacted way they did. You need to be British and understand the British disaster way of working to even begin to understand this film version. If you buy the one disc version such as this one - it's heavily edited and makes even less sense than the TV drama series. They should have left well alone and left at 4 hours and not bothered with 3 hour cinema release - as I said - a lot of things are better explained in the 4 hour version and suddenly gaps aren't just as large. Overall - disappointing in the extreme if you've read the book. Casting is good and this film could and should have been better. The script should certainly have been better for the film as the book itself was very descriptive - script writer/editor of this film should be ashamed of this offering. CGI impressive and you're left wondering if they had the budget for this, what kind of a difference a better script writer/editor who stuck to the fire premise as well would have made. This would have made one cracking 6 part TV series.
