Amazon.co.uk Review
The Ocean’s Trilogy, a brand new four-disc set, brings together Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen in one box, delivering some of the finest old-style caper entertainment seen on the big screen in years. Ocean’s Eleven is the best of the trilogy, and also superior to the original Rat Pack film that it’s a remake of. Here, we’re introduced for the first time to Daniel Ocean (George Clooney, who effortlessly charms his way through all three films with real style) and his group of fellow cons (including Brad Pitt and Matt Damon) as they try and pull off a daring casino heist. It’s a thrilling, immaculately packaged slice of Hollywood entertainment, and easily stands up to repeated viewings.
The first sequel, Ocean’s Twelve, is a mess though. The first half sets things up nicely, introducing further themes of competition and revenge, but it then pulls a blistering stupid plot device around half way through and never recovers. There’s still plenty to enjoy, but it’s a real missed opportunity.
Ocean’s Thirteen finds the gang in much finer form though, and the addition of Al Pacino to the roster as the new villain of the piece does it no harm whatsoever. The focus is back onto a single job, and while it’s light on twists, it’s still a breezy caper that’s hard not to warm to.
Packed with big name stars, and directed on the whole with real skill by Steven Soderbergh, the Ocean’s Trilogy is--the middle film excepted--testament to just how much fun watching movie stars doing their thing can be. A boxset well worth investing in. --Simon Brew

this box set is one of the best box set we have seen in recent years....they are films that will be remembered for along time......its a change to what we usually see coming out of hollywood, like all the blood and gore films..or the none stop shooting ones ....... not that they arent good films they are its just good to see that they can produce something else for a change, with a great star studded cast ..i mean they gotta be good to have a star cast like they have ......and this is defintly a film for the ladies not so much for the plot but for the cast anything with matt damon, brad pitt and george cloney in gets my vote ...... i also think that how the plot always has a twist keeps u watching and wanting to no more ..its great how everything is unveiled at the end... i feel that the last one has got to be the best one....brillant defo a 5 star films. xxxxxxxxx

As beautiful as they are cleverReview date: 2008-02-20 Rating: 10 out of 10These films literally drip style. Vegas is richly represented in all 3 films using bright, colourful sets and lavish (almost OTT) character design. The stories are cleverly woven and feature plenty of "wow, that was really well timed!" moments.
A MUST see for any film fan who enjoys cleverly written stories, films with sex appeal and George Clooney.Smug superstars enjoying each others smug company.Review date: 2007-11-29 Rating: 2 out of 10I'm a genuine and passionate film fan and therefore I could not read the first review and not feel compelled to reply. This boxed set in no way deserves 5 stars. Not for the physical presentation, the extras and certainly not for the artistic endeavour involved in producing three such forgettable films.
Before anyone levels the "its just harmless entertainment" argument at me none of these films are entertaining they are boring over bloated vehicles for some famous people to have a nice time in others company while we pick up the bill. By the way just labelling something "entertainment" is no excuse for making what can only be described as a collection of essentially very poor films.
If you want entertainment buy The Bourne Trilogy boxed set an excellent example of blockbuster cinema entertainment, or support British cinema and buy the This is Shane Meadows boxed set for the same price to see just how good film making can be.
The longer we reward this laziness from the big studios with our money the longer they will continue to churn it out.
A Remarkable Boxset. A Great Price. Grand Entertainment.Review date: 2007-11-05 Rating: 10 out of 10Danny Ocean & his crew of crooks have taken us on three adventures exploring deep into their hiests and amusing criminal behaviour, now you can own all three together with an extra bonus disc for £23.
Not a bad price for a boxset with a movie realesed today (Mon 5th November) with most retail outlets selling it at £15 is it?
These films are an esstential to anyone's DVD collection and are great films to watch with friends, family, partners and anyone who enjoys a good laugh and a star-studded cast, because let's face it, Clooney, Damon and Pitt, it's bound to be worth watching.
'Ocean's Eleven & Thirteen' are just brilliant. They are amusing, fun and just a pleasure to watch.
'Ocean's Twelve' is definatly the weaker of the three, however the other two films and the bonus disc make up for it, making this one of the coolest boxset released in the past few weeks.
A great boxset for all to enjoy.
