To stop the evil that he himself has raised from the earth, Tony must become his greatest invention ever - Iron Man! The newly born champion must travel to the four corners of the earth to battle the Mandarin`s henchmen, the Elementals - four magical warriors who harness the power of the elements - earth, water, wind and fire - with deadly chemistry. My fav of all Marvel superheroes and they make it the weakest of all the 4 animated series so far ? Maybe my expectations were too high ? Not really. While the animation and sound are OK, the plot and development are confusing; the enemies are basically supernatural ghosts who would have fitted better on the Dr. Strange movie, and the Mandarin -the best villain ever created- doesn't turn up on the movie on the assumption he maybe is dead ?! Why the need for this ? Innovative....yes. Entertaining, huh....no.
On another note we are introduced to T. Stark's super-cool variety of armors, which as is customary he keeps on wrecking all along the movie, LOL !
Let's hope the next one is a corcker as the latest theater flick was, what a treat. This one is for completists only and do yourself a favour try to get it from a bargain bin.

Invincible? Not really....Review date: 2007-12-26 Rating: 2 out of 10I'm going to keep this review short - this story is just really poor. The animation, while not brilliant, is watchable but the story is unmemorable - even while you're part way through watching it! Not really a good sign....
Given the vast source material, perhaps Stane (Iron Monger) would've made a more interesting tale. Any origin points (and I'm not sure that this is necessary anyway) could be via (fast) flashbacks. I just found it incredibly dull and had I not been a comics fan would've had turned this off about 30 mins into it. I'd agree with another reviewer on here that an technology armoured man vs. elemental ghosts does not work well. Come to think of it, it was a similar problem for the live action Elektra which really should've stuck to being a martial arts / action film. But I digress...
When I saw the Ultimate Avengers I was optimistic about these direct to DVD efforts from both Marvel and DC. Then Ultimate Avengers 2 came out which was no where near as good, then Superman: Doomsday (see my review on Amazon for my thoughts on that one) and now this. Optimism has all but faded!
Hey Marvel and DC - wanna know a secret? There's a REASON these comic stories are popular - so stop messing with them!!! How hard can it be? Now go talk to Frank Miller about overseeing an animated `Dark Knight returns'!!!a poor quality cash-inReview date: 2007-10-18 Rating: 2 out of 10I bought this dvd with high hopes for a nice preview of some iron man action, but was sorely disappointed. The animation is shockingly poorly detailed and flickers like a slideshow. The story even appears to not be consistent with the original iron man storyline. It is obvious that this dvd is a cheap marvel cash-in on the impending live action film, and i urge you not to waste your money on it.A throwaway film (summary is last 2 paragrahs if you want to skip to it)Review date: 2007-10-11 Rating: 4 out of 10Unfortunately I found this disappointing and just weird. Obviously a film with a man who wears a robotic suit is not going to be grounded in the real world but this was just...weird. Iron Man fighting mystical ghosts that have risen after a 3000 year sleep? It just doesn't work, the film overall films rushed - obviously it's been made to build anticipation towards the blockbuster live action version but they spent too little time getting the story right to cash in on the hype.
Those of you who have seen the live action trailer, will notice that the suit he uses to escape imprisonment, (big, ugly and bulky) is very similar to the one that features in the trailer for the animation version. Very clever marketing on their part! Because along with the matching "Iron Man" title font and design - I thought this was going to be the thing to keep me occupied until the live-action version! I'm upset with myself for getting caught up in the hype!
The action scenes are beautifully animated and the sound is faultless but for the 1st 1/2hr nothing interesting really happens - just the odd threat of a full scale battle...I was most impressed with the fight in the volcano, although I knew our hero would come out alive - I still held my breath at points where his life was in danger.
To sum up it's worth a watch - just the once in my opinion, as it's not as good as many other titles out there. It's a slow starter and by the time it starts the film makers have to dispose of 2 of the bad guys in quick succession. The final battle ends in a cliché while the music and side story remind me of Batman Begins: The haunting music which crops up every now and again and the business/boardroom politics that threaten every playboy millionaire that lends their surname to the company. Make money fast through weapons trade and development or boost earnings through moral , honest avenues?
Please bare in mind - I'm 24yrs old and I'm a keen follower of the DC/Marvel comics world. So if you're buying it for your kids - they probably won't be as judgemental!
