Amazon.co.uk Review

It’s hard to remember a comedian that’s enjoyed anything like the far-reaching success of Peter Kay in recent years. A best-selling autobiography, writing and directing hit television shows, and a comedy tour that broke records are just some of his achievements, and there’s a strong flavour of what makes him so popular on this Stand Up Ukay DVD.

The disc is effectively a greatest hits collection of his stand-up comedy routines, apparently chosen by the British public. So therefore Stand Up Ukay brings together some hilarious work: Hob Nobs in the your tea, how people dance at weddings and the infamous garlic bread are examples of some of the material here. The disc is then rounded out with the music video to "I’m Gonna Be" (500 Miles).

Without doubt, Stand Up Ukay is a DVD packed with laughs, but conversely, there’s little getting away from the fact that it’s full of material that the majority will have seen and enjoyed before. That some of it is making its third appearance on a DVD release does sour the taste a little, too.

Still, if you’ve missed out what all the fuss about, then Stand Up Ukay is an excellent starting point. Everyone else is best being a little more cautious. --Simon Brew

Peter Kay only has one routine which he performs to death. It's like listening to your elderly senile uncle telling you the same story about 'the good old days' over and over - it wasn't very funny the first ten times, and now you laugh out of pity.

Both me and my sister are huge Peter Kay fans, so when I saw that he had brought out a new DVD, I bought it straight away to give to my sister for Christmas.

When I asked my sister if she wanted, she did the whole "yeh... it was good!" routine you do when you hate a DVD, so I sat down to watch it myself.

I watched a whole 5 minutes of it before realising I'd been completely conned... no new material whatsoever...

I was a bit annoyed that Royal Albert Hall and MEN arena were pretty much identical... but can half understand because it was 2 filmings of the same tour.

But as an owner of top of the tower, royal albert hall AND manchester arena, I was disgusted to see that they had sold me what I already owned.

If Peter Kay brings out a new DVD, I will not buy it until im 100% certain that it is original material... I will not be conned like this ever again

How low can kay stoop, he acts like a working class hero but is just a greedy cash hungry conservative in disguise & a lazy one at that!
Hasn't he made enough money from his sad excuse for a website & countless (same routine) dvds....shame on you pete.

He's made his bed now, let him lie in it.

Bigger rip off than "Live At Manchester Arena"

Well "Live At Manchester Arena" had very little new material and this has none. The DVD comprises of sections from the previous 3 DVDs interspersed with pointless interviews with members of the public (from Bolton i presume?) about why Peter Kay is funny to them - as if I need to be told??!? Totally pointless and a massive rip off. "Stand Up Kay" is just further proof that Peter Kay has produced no new standup material for over 4 years.
