In the history of boxing film/documentaries 'Ricky Hatton A Life Story' could have been a loser. The brief outline on the back of the dvd does not bode well: family interviews, career achievements, fight details.
Play the 1hour 47 minute film, however, and you will be left gasping. I have never been a fan of the 'Rocky' films and even Scorsese's 'Raging Bull' lingers on the personality too much. It was always 'When We Were Kings' that enthralled me with its differing perspectives closing-in on one particular fight. 'Ricky Hatton A Life Story' is a complete all rounder with insight, narrative progression, visual flair and intimate reality. As soon as I got a tingle up the spine when we see kid Hatton's first boxing gym, I was hooked. From those two fists of fury to the 'defining fight' against Kostya Tszyu.
The man, the boxer, the world champion. Born to win, a privileged insight into the life of a fiend, a monster, a viscious brawling Monarch. A man who possesses the ring he was born to preside over with the mind of a ruthless assassin: the Hitman Ricky Hatton. Mayweather's nightmare on dvd. I love this film.

A great DVD from cover to cover. There are more hidden extras here than any DVD ive ever bought.
A tremendous celebration of Music and Stories depicting Ricky's journey to the top. I loved the headcam sessions with billy graham (ricks mentor)
and the bonus fights, and song with video, all great stuff.
I feel this DVD alone will capture the Imagination of many people, some of whom are not already massive Hatton fans. Those that are, your in for a real xmas treat. Particularly loved the 'Heart Of A Winner' track (reminds me of Rocky- & will appeal to the American fans of Boxing).
Least You know what to fill your stockings with this year !

This is a great DVD - packed with interviews, story telling and early clips along with a great story of how Ricky became Britain's most popular, and arguably greatest fighter! It's got loads of extras too, including the full Castillo fight from Vegas and lots of his most recent fights too. If you love Ricky Hatton, you'll love this DVD!
