Graphic and unpleasant but some good ideas and gore

When I first watched this movie, i didnt think it was that bad. If anything, I enjoyed it. However, recently i re-watched it with friends, and am sure that if i hadnt i would have stayed ignorant to the films many flaws.
Firstly, the script. It is nothing short of dreadful, with its cliched dialogue and predictable (and not in the least bit frightening) scares. What really annoyed me though, was the swearing. Lets get this straight. Im not a prude, i really couldnt care less about swearing. I didn't give 'Scarface' 1 star because Tony Montana swore a bit. However, the cussing in this film just doesnt feel natural or fit in. Every f-bomb made me cringe, as it just felt like it had been added to up the 'adultness' (i wont say maturity, because this film is tasteless and boring). Swearing has to fit the script. They even had a love intrest, which, to be honest was so out of place it made me gag.
Secondly, the acting. It didn't help that all the characters were cliches, and the script was useless, but even so the actors here enjected no (or very little) sense of fear or urgency, just walking from set peice to set peice not really carring about the fate that will befall them.
Thirldy was the rape scene. This was so unneccesarilly gratuitous i almost walked out.
Is there anything to redeem this film? well...this is a horror film, and the 2 stars are deffinatly for the horror element. Whilst not being scary, i thought that the monsters were good adversarys, and the gore was suitable horrific.
Should you buy this? No, i wouldnt. If u want gore try the remake or 'Wrong Turn' which is superior in every way.

hideousReview date: 2008-06-26 Rating: 2 out of 10Once again i found myself at the sink wondering whether to slash myself to death or to gas myself in the oven. I cannot beleive I sat through this film, those hours will never be returned to me and I'm so angry. This film was absolute drivvel consisting of what seemed like hours of 'wondering' around on the top the base, with men swearing and pointing their guns randomly in the air and slow close ups on the women's massive lips quivering at every scary moment. The film doesn't really amount to much, just loads of weird long shot angles and disgusting looking mutant men who enjoy pulling people's legs down holes and impregnating unsuspecting women. This film was fantastic - fantastically rubbish.Degrading garbage - avoid like the plague!Review date: 2008-06-11 Rating: 2 out of 10I thought I wasn't in favour of censorship until I saw this utterly degrading, sick tripe. I was going to liken it to animal behaviour but only humans appear to behave and take pleasure from this obscene filth!avoidReview date: 2008-06-06 Rating: 2 out of 10this is just terrible and a complete waste of time one of the worst horror flicks for quite a whileThe hills may have eyes but their not workingReview date: 2008-05-26 Rating: 4 out of 10This film was so bad it was funny, all the deaths were so predictable and it felt like the production team couldn't wait to kill off the characters, so quickly did they die. This film doesn't even measure up to half of the first film which I thought was Balls anyhow.
P.S why does this dvd have a gag reel, what could possibly be funny about people getting killed by mutants!!!
