No Stars For This One
Review date: 2008-10-04 Rating: 2 out of 10

Would love to start this review with a synopsis but, sadly, there isn't really anything to tell about this film and I find it near impossible to summarise this abysmal story but basically Morgan Freeman is a contract killer on the run who has an encounter with John Cusack and his son during their trip out to the mountains. Cusack tries to do the right thing and hand him over to the relevant authorities... and here, the story is supposed to unveil... Don't hold your breath. It's a total waste of time and money. There is no story and, towards the end, everyone involved in this film, clearly, ran out of ideas, energy and everything else required to make a good film.

It must be yet another one of those films that famous actors do just for money. Otherwise, there is no way on this planet that one could explain Morgan Freeman taking this on!

In summary, if you are absolutely desperate and your only choice of TV is either Eastenders or Emmerdale, then watch it. Other than that, don't bother.

Pointless

If you really like John Cusack, this will just about while away a couple of hours. But it's very predictable stuff. I watched this a few months ago and I can't remember any of it.

Waste of time

It is a very bad film and very disappointing. The plot is boring except a few minutes at the beginning.

Very surprised by the bad reviews, this is a very enjoyable thriller

Professional hitman Morgan Freeman gets caught by police and then escapes during a car crash, but happens to run into John Cusack on a fishing expedition with his son. Morgan warns Cusack to walk away and pretend he saw nothing, but Cusack, much to his son's dismay, decides he's going to take Morgan in and return him to justice. The trouble is a team of Morgan's fellow villains are frantically trying to find Morgan themselves, so Cusack and son have to get Freeman back to civilisation (they're in the middle of a forest), whilst also avoiding Freeman's team.

I don't understand why people think this storyline is so weak as is makes for a compelling and suspenseful film as it turns out Freeman genuinely doesn't want to see Cusack and his son come to harm and wants to escape as much for their benefit as his. There is also a twist to the story when one of Freeman's team double-crosses him.

This is a very original storyline with Freeman playing the likable villain and Cusack trying to simultaneously bring a villain to justice and improve the relationship with his son, as the film progresses a strange bond develops between the three, this film is definitely worth checking out, Cusack and Freeman are excellent.

This is cringeworthy from beginning to middle

Don't worry about the end, if you have a brain between your ears you won't get that far.

While the plot seems a reasonable enough starting point for an exciting thriller, the script is so wooden and forced that not even Cussack and Freeman can polish this merde. The four "bad guys" should win Oscars for over acting, and the script writer/s should have their type writers confiscated.

As some one else here said, there is only 1 good line in this whole film. I won't spoil it for you. After all you might be captured by terrorists one day and forced to watch this over and over again, as a particularly sick form of torture.. That one line could be the difference between sanity and gaga land.. Although the latter would be preferable in the end.

AVOID!
