Review date: 2008-09-26 Rating: 10 out of 10
Most Callan devotess acknowledge this programme to be the most gripping yet difficult to obtain the real Series 1 and the film The Wet Job. I have them - the first four episodes in poor condition - but sound track excellent and the quality improves after that. These are on dvd and I have copies of the four disc set available in Canberra Australia - written application to Peter Baxter 20 The Pines Ave. Sundown Village, Narrabundah ACT 2604. Australia.

Incorrect contentReview date: 2008-04-26 Rating: 10 out of 10If you look at the Series 1 set of Callan as advertised on amazon.uk you will find that the episodes are exactly the same as those advertised as Series 1 which is release as 3 set - series 1 part 1 of 3, series 1 part 2 of 3, series 1 part 3 of 3. So there is something very odd about this. I bought the latter sets in the UK. When I returned to Australia, I purchased 'Series 3' from the ABC shop (same as advertised on amazon) only to find they were the same as those I bought in the UK. So beware. Great programmes nevertheless.DVD contentReview date: 2007-10-01 Rating: 10 out of 10Originally, I mistakenly posted this review to the Series 3 DVDs. My review actually refers to Series 4, recently released in Australia. The Series 4 set contains 13 episodes on 4 discs in 2 boxes, these being: That'll be the day; Call me Sir; First refusal; Rules of the game; If he can, so could I; None of your business; Charlie says its goodbye; I never wanted the job; The carrier; The contract; Call me enemy; Do you recognise the woman; A man like me.
The Series 4 set also includes the Callan movie on a separate disc in a third box to complete the set.
My apologies for my mistake, but I seem unable to remove this review.Callan returnsReview date: 2007-08-23 Rating: 8 out of 10This is an excellent series. The only problem is you are also advertising the same Series as Series One. I believe the Nine Episodes that are included here are actually Series Three. Series' One and Two also featued Anthony Valentine as Meres and ended with Callan killing Hunter and Meres gunning down Callan. Complete details of all four series of Callan are available on Wikipedia. Series Three featured Patrick Mower as Cross and started with Callan's return - it is the series described here. Series Four featured Callan as Hunter and the return of Anthony Valentine. I do not believe the original series is available.
I cannot understand why this series has not been given an accurate description/title. It is Series Three and not Series One!Big Al oxfordReview date: 2007-06-28 Rating: 10 out of 10Of all the tv shows from the sixtie and seventies Callan was the best. The acting was superb and the stories very well written.Edward Woodwood,Antony Valentine and Russel Hunter were marvelous in their respective roles and the show won numerous awards and watching this series three, makes you wonder why all the other series of this fabulous show are not available. Whoever it is that owns the rights for Callan, please make the rest available and do us all a huge favour by allowing the vast fan-base out there to enjoy the cream of British tv from the golden age of intelligent programs.
