John Drake completely outclasses James Bond
Review date: 2008-05-10 Rating: 10 out of 10
When asked why he refused to play James Bond in 1961 McGoohan replied "Take away the super armament - the muscle - the glamour - the sex -what's left. Nothing. Bond has no spirit."
McGoohan stamped his personality on Drake, never being involved with the plethora of lovely girls, never carrying a gun, relying on robust hand to hand combat combined with a highly professional cold relentless tenacity.
Backed up by excellent scripts and supporting actors every episode of Dangerman is a winner.
Almost certainly the greatest TV espionage series ever made.

this is NOT Danger Man 'complete'Review date: 2007-09-14 Rating: 8 out of 10I've just bought this set, and as the last reviewer says, it does not include the original half-hour episodes, just the 50 minute ones from 1964-66.
Whilst I've got no criticism at all of the content, which is brilliant throughout, I think the description of 'Danger Man Complete' is very naughty. The product description clearly says "all 86 episodes from John Drake's entire crime fighting career" are included. This is not true - only 47 episodes are here.
Not all episodes?Review date: 2007-09-11 Rating: 10 out of 10According to info I have looked up this set cannot include all episodes of Danger Man:
30 minute long episodes
Season (1) 39
60 minute long episodes
Season (2) 22
Season (3) 23
Season (4) 2 (both in colour)
There are 47 hour long episodes in seasons 2-4. The run time for this set is just over 39 hours. If season 1's 39 half hour episodes were also included then the run time would have to be around just under 60 hours!
Amazon's intro quoting 86 episodes must be wrong, or am I missing something here? Excellent seriesReview date: 2007-08-28 Rating: 10 out of 10I haven't bought this new collector's edition of the 50 min episodes yet. I want them but am tied between buying this set for £60 plus then paying another £60 for the first series of 30 min episodes. Difficult to know what to do especially when you can now buy the entire lot (the 2 series together) on Amazon.com for just 60$ (that's just 30 quid for the complete extra megaset series). Any ideas anyone?
PS. Does anyone know why The Invaders (David Vincent) has never been released on DVD or if there is an intention to bring it out?If you want the other 39 half hour versions......Review date: 2007-08-12 Rating: 10 out of 10 In reply to the previous reviewer. If the case is that this new release only contains the 50 minute versions, this is where you can get the First Season.
The box set that was released by A&E in the USA, comprising of 5 discs, is actually REGION O, NTSC, and will play on any UK DVD player that can output the signal, and most do, even the cheaper models. And if you shop around, you can pick the set up reasonable priced; I bought mine, brand new, from Amazon.com for £ 11.00, and was including P&P.
Buy this set definitely but if you want to complete the collection treate yourself to Season One.
