Firstly let me make it clear this film has nothing to do with the American Television series starring Dick Van Dyke Instead what we have is a clever British thriller. The plot concerns a greedy doctor (played by the great Christopher Lee) who kidnaps his rich wife. Jon Finch plays the detective investigating who reminds me of a crude Columbo in the way he harases the doctor. This is a very broad plot outline as there is much more to it complete with a great twist at the end. I remember first watching this film many years ago when it was show as part of ITV's Murder Mystery and Suspence series. This film is very similar in both plot and style to Brian Clemens excellent Thriller television series, it even has a Laurie Johnson score. At the moment this film is only available as an American region 1 coded dvd, so if you have a multi region dvd player and enjoy old 70's British thrillers then this film is for you.
