Synopsis
The second of two spin-offs launched by the hugely popular television series C.S.I. - CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, C.S.I. - NEW YORK distinguishes itself with an even darker, grittier tone than either of its predecessors by grounding the action in the gloomy aftermath of post-9/11 New York. The always brilliant Gary Sinise anchors the series as sternly professional former-Marine police detective Mac Taylor, whose stoic exterior masks the pain of losing his wife in the World Trade Center attacks. Taylor's forensics team includes his tough-as-nails partner, Stella Bonasera (Melina Kanakaredes); the sexy but street-smart investigator Aiden Burn (Vanessa Ferlito); no-nonsense tough guy Don Flack (Eddie Cahill); smart-aleck detective Danny Messer (Carmine Giovinazzo); and the briskly efficient coroner, Sheldon Hawkes (Hill Harper). Bathed in sombre, blue-tinged cinematography, the spin-off emphasizes well-drawn character development without sacrificing any of the grisly criminal and scientific elements that made its parent show such a smashing success. Presented here is a selection of episodes from the show's third series.
Excellant start

If you're reading this reveiw then you are obiously interested in the show, and if you're interested i reccomend you buy it! CSI: New York is a spin off seris from the original CSI. Personally this is my favourite show out of the three. I would say this season is great, not quite as good as season 2 but i'm hoping it will get back on track. These episodes are full of jam packed crime ready and waiting for you to sit down and watch the team uncover the mysteries, some more odd then others. You definatly see the characters develop more and start to understand their pasts, also bringing in some new characters which were definatly needed and some romance is in the air for some of our CSI's!

NEWYORK THE BEST.Review date: 2008-01-15 Rating: 10 out of 10I LOVE CSI NEWYORK.I LOVE GARY SINISE.AVE ALL HIS FILMS.HAVE ALWAYS LIKED CSI.I LIKE THE WAY THE FORENSIC PEOPLE SHOW THE INHURIES IN REAL LIFE AND CUT THE BODIES OPEN.I HAVE ALL THE NEWYORK BOXSETS,CCOST ME BUT WORTH IT.I LIKE THE CHARACTERS THEY SEEM TO GEL WELL TOGETHER AND ALWAYS HAVE EACH OTHERS BACKS.WOULD LIKE TO SEE MAC AND STELLA GET TOGETHER BUT THAT WOULD B 2 BORING I SUPPOSE.XXFast paced, reliable TV detectionReview date: 2007-12-02 Rating: 8 out of 10You can rely on CSI for a good evening's entertainment. Each episode always offer a twisting, complicated plot, good character interaction, excellent film-making and clever dialogue.
CSI:NY feels very different to the other two branches of the franchise, and Season Three picks up with a light touch where Season Two left off. The opening episodes are deft and clever -- not too grim or emotionally gruelling -- with a heightened emphasis on tricksy camera work to sharpen up the presentation. There's even a modern twist on the old 'ice dagger' ploy that mystery writers love to use! By episode four the tone changes somewhat with a serial killer story that is gory, chilling and tragic.
Several of the minor characters step into the spotlight more this series. In particular the kooky pathologist gets more time and some great lines -- he's often flippant and sometimes his humour is close to the knuckle, but it's underlined by a deep sense of responsibility towards the dead people he examines. Likewise we see Danny grow in maturity and stature; he's an interesting character and his time on screen is always a high point.
New characters step forward: a female police detective to back up the excellent Flack; a love interest for Mac (yes! But it won't be a smooth path for them...), and the relationship between two of the other key characters gets more complicated, hinting at an unpleasant history for one of them.
All that is against the backdrop of intricate, twisting plotlines. My only criticism of CSI is that the stories are getting wildly implausible. Some times I long for a straightforward murder, rather than the weird series of coincidences which some episodes depend upon. But it's a minor whinge. Similarly, every episode has its quota of beautiful people bouncing around in bikinis and shorts -- that's part of the attraction for some viewers no doubt! And it's certainly easy watching -- but just once in a while you wonder if everyone involved in a murder is a gorgeous catwalk model. There's no doubt that the series has been considerably sexed-up, compared to earlier seasons.
New York still plays a special part in the series, and as in previous seasons it is very cleverly filmed (especially when you consider that very little of CSI is actually shot in NY!). But the atmosphere of the place soaks through every episode; it's not just any old city.
The special features are useful if you've not seen previous seasons or the other franchises, because you get bonus episodes to watch. Less use if you've already seen them, of course!
CSI:NY remains among the best avaialable television entertainment. Always worth renting, and fans should buy it to watch over and again.America's best crime franchise just got better!!!Review date: 2007-08-23 Rating: 10 out of 10Being a huge fan of all 3 CSI shows I rushed out to buy this latest installment of CSI:NY as soon as it was released. On a whole, all seasons of CSI consist of episodes of a constantly high standard but every so often you come across an incredible, stand-out episode which just makes you think "wow" and the episodes "Hung out to Dry" and "Raising Shane" are prime examples of this. In my opinion this is one of the best 12-episode sets for overall quality and I can't wait for the second half of the season to be released. If you're a fan of CSI: Las Vegas but havent been attracted by either of the spin-off series yet i'd urge you to give them a go. At first I wasn't keen on the idea of CSIs Miami and New York and thought that the show's creators were messing with a winning formula but as soon as I watched a few episodes of each I was hooked. 3 different locations give the opportunity for more diverse storylines and each series has a different feel to it so its well worth getting into them all. This is like the best season ever!Review date: 2007-07-16 Rating: 10 out of 10Season 3 is the best season that the CSI heads have come up with! I absolutley loved it! The season is action packed and worth buying on DVD. Plus, this boxset includes the Miami/NY crossover featured last year. I cannot wait to get the second half of this season!
The best episodes has to be "not what it looks likes" and "Love run cold"
Like I said before, this boxset is worth adding to your collection or a great one to start your collection with.
CSI:NY is action packed, fun and has got a great cast. If you've never seen it before, watch one episode and you'll be hooked!
