Amazon.co.uk Review

The further adventures of Los Angeles' Counter Terrorism Unit's finest initially sees Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer in a Chinese prison and not in good shape. But, this being 24, it's not too long before the breakneck plot has revved into gear, and the wheels are turning again on a frantic real-time ride that's thoroughly in the tradition of what's become television's finest thriller.

You won't be finding plot spoilers here, because half the fun of 24 is not knowing what unexpected twist the scriptwriters have for you around the next corner. All that matters is that the world is under threat, and it's up to Jack Bauer to lead the fightback. And it's Kiefer Sutherland that's the real asset to series six; whereas particularly in season five he took a sideways step to accommodate stronger supporting characters, here he's shouldering a greater degree of the show's narrative thrust.

You'd be hard pushed to declare that season six is vintage 24, but that's more to do with the context of particularly the excellent run that preceded it. But few shows can match its audacious verve, and repeated ability to surprise and enthral. So while season six may have too many villains, and may ask you to bear with it through a few troughs, there's still nothing out there to match it. Jump aboard… --Jon Foster

Loved it

Despite the criticisms voiced over this series, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Sure there are times you think 'What, not again'. As CTU's security is compromised again. As another director of CTU is removed. Despite this, the 24 factor is still there and each episode ends with a cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more.
The new characters introduced play there roles well and there are enough unexpected twist and turns to keep you interested.
I'm off to get series 7. What better recommendation is there?

Oh Jon Cassar, what went wrong?????
Review date: 2008-04-29 Rating: 4 out of 10

I love 24 and have done since the very start, but my word season 6 is so far off the mark it's untrue!!! I think the problem stemmed from season 5, although it was one of the best seasons EVER, in my opinion they made one huge error.....they killed off EVERYONE!!!! Meaning season 6 was like a totally new show, with Jack thrown in every now and then!!!! Far too much talking, and not enough Bauer!!! If your a massive 24 fan like me then it doesn't really matter about these reviews as you are more than likely going to watch it anyway....but be warned, it is not good!!! Come on Keifer and Cassar you can do better than this!!!!

Subtitles only in Swedish and Norwegian!

OK, so Series 6 not as great as Series 5, but I still love Jack Bauer! I live in Spain and am sending back because the subtitles are in Swedish and Norwegian - amazon failed to disclose the languages of the subtitles - I just assumed that Spanish would be included - it usually is the standard in subtitles. Will have to order from US.

Soap on a Rope!
Review date: 2008-04-07 Rating: 6 out of 10

Preposterous in part, with over-reliance on twists and cliffhangers elsewhere, this is simply the weakest season of the 6. Season 1 bears up as a better view the second time round as I was somewhat underwhelmed by it the first time round after all the hype. But , no mistake, seasons 2 through to 5 are great television. Gripping and entertaining without entirely leaving the realms of credibility and realism. Season 6 simply does not deliver. It is simply unbelievable to think when Bauer's character, after 18 months to two years of torture in a Chinese prison, a stupefied, broken Jack is sent to his death on a suicide mission, only to survive (big surprise!) and within the hour be back to complete fighting fitness!!! In what parallel universe? This is not Twin Peaks, after all.If that weren't a bad enough start to this drama, the character of Morris O'Brian, later in the series is captured, battered, almost kicked to death and is responsible for setting off the potential for nuclear annihilation globally. He is severely tortured with a power drill through his shoulder. Again, within the hour, he beahaves as if it were only his horse that had come in third!!!Not a flicker of pain or trauma. Just a mild attempt at a shot of whisky (he's a recovering alcoholic) which he resists!!!! Not the actor's fault....holes in the script, lack of attention to the timeline and sloppy direction of actors. There are drastically soapy elements to the scripts and the general lack of credibility undermines the quality we have come to expect from this series.Having said all that, it still is entertaining though in a dumber way. And,of course, any 24 is better than none.

LOVE 24 BUT..........

SEASON 6 WAS BORING AND PREDICTABLE. I'VE LOVED 24 FROM DAY ONE, BUT THIS SEASON THERE WAS NOTHING NEW AND ALL WAS EASY TO SPOT. BUT ITS STILL JACK BAUER, WHO IS AWESOME! HOPEFULLY SEASON 7 WILL BE BLINDING, IT CERTAINLY LOOKS LIKE IT JUDGING FROM THE TRAILER............
