MISCHIEF NIGHT
Review date: 2008-03-06 Rating: 6 out of 10
when i found out this film was being directed and produced by the same crew that make shameless i was desperate to buy it....as a big shameless fan i thought this would be a classy film version with similar jokes and laughs like the series......of course, different cast, different ideas but generally similar laughs etc....i have to admit,i was a bit disapointed with it,as i didnt find too many laughs or jokes in it,although a good story line and well acted...(esp from the young actors in it) i would recommend buying it if u get it cheap but i wont be in a rush to watch it again.....

A gemReview date: 2007-10-28 Rating: 10 out of 10When on song, you can't beat Brit films for humour & thought provoking content. This is, first & foremost, a feel good movie (nothing wrong with that) but it also covers sensitive issues like prejudice & bigotry. I don't really want to spoil things for anyone thinking about watching this so will just say " well worth a look". What a load of &^&*%£^£"!!!!Review date: 2007-08-22 Rating: 2 out of 10I rented this DVD based on the previous reviews and I was SO disappointed.
My husband and I settled down to watch it, hoping for something along the "East is East" theme....but it's nowhere near.
The story line is non existent, the humour lacks...err....humour, and the acting is awful.
If you suffer insomnia, rent this, if not STAY WELL CLEAR!!!!What a hootReview date: 2007-06-06 Rating: 10 out of 10If you liked east is East then you're going to love this.
oddly enough I saw this in the USA and didn't know it existed. How this fantastic little film got forgotten in the UK beggars belief.
It was so good I spent several weeks trying to track it down (The title) so I could get it for my family to watch. It's a gritty, funny little film, filled with lots of 'funny but true' moments.
It's not hollywood, but very much that 'real' flavour of a movie like 'Shaun of the dead'Fantastic! The Funniest British Film in Years...........!!Review date: 2007-05-10 Rating: 10 out of 10Quite simply 'Mischief Night' is a hidden gem of the British film industry. The story will captivate you, its frankness will astound you and the performances dazzle without exception. The pace of the film is fantastic - and it is accompanied by a melodic soundtrack, that like the film is a unique mix of east and west - as only can be found in the UK. Penny Woolcock deserves many more plaudits than she recieved for this film - the direction is inspired, and Robbie Ryan's cinematography is saturated with colour - leaving us wondering what fantasy world we may have found ourselves in. This is essentially the funniest British film I have seen for many, many years - it leaves other films of this genre - Bend it like Beckham, East is East amongst them - standing at the start line. This is a fantastic movie!!
