Product Description
From the creators of Tenko, ITV's Wish Me Luck is a thrilling dramatisation of the ordeals endured by the brave civilian women recruited during the Second World War to operate as Allied agents behind enemy lines. Starring Jane Asher, Julian Glover, Suzanna Hamilton and Kate Buffery, the first series of eight episodes follows the experiences of wife and mother Liz and factory girl Mathilde from their initial recruitment and training in England, through to the terrifying reality of their day-to-day lives as agents in Occupied France. Under their new code names, Celeste and Aimee, Liz and Matty are faced with the ever-present threat of discovery by the occupying German forces - who are led by the new Abwehr chief Colonel Krieger - as well as the danger of betrayal by French collaborators. The DVd set includes a photo gallery and 24 page series guide book.

The best of the three wish me luck series, I watched this when it was originally shown as a teenager and had been looking out for it to be released on dvd for some time. Thankfully it finally has. I was slightly worried that my memories of watching this may have been slightly 'rose-tinted' but was not disappointed. Though of course it reflects the time when it was originally filmed this series is real treat. The lead characters played by Kate Buffery, Suzannah Hamilton (why did they get rid of her for series 2 and 3?) and Michael Jackson (not of pop stardom) are very strong and the setting amid the French resistance during the second world war a compelling one.
