Quality is grainy,it's an old 'made for TV' movie, story is so predictable...if you know the song you know the story, yet it's so enjoyable. A real testimony to how a simple story can be so effective. Plenty of life lessons thrown in about when to stand up for yourself and when to 'turn the other cheek'.
What was unexpected was the final scene with Becky and the Gattlin' boys. An off screen rape. It was very shocking for a film that had stayed in 'Disney' safety up until then. I did'nt think that was at all necessary to get Tommy to 'lock the door', a simple insult to her I think would have had that effect at the time in the movie.
