Fantastic - But some disappointments

For people who look back to remember with nostalgia the days of the classic fireman sam series this is the perfect remedy to missing the hero next door. The episodes are well preserved, and to be fair haven't dated too much - they were just as good as I remembered first time around. For Sam fans, or those wishing to introduce him to a new generation, this product is brilliant.
Beware the name of this set - though this claims to be the complete collection of all 32 classic episodes one key episode is absent, the 20 minute Christmas Special "Snow Business". I'm not really sure why this episode is excluded, as it makes the set feel incomplete.
Some purests will be disappointed that the opening credits are tinkered with to clean up the "Fireman Sam" freeze at the end of the credits - it just seems an unnecessary change.
Finally the DVD extras on this set are minimal - making this quite a basic release in many ways. There is so much potential to explore the origins of the series, the theme music, the iconic narration by John Alderton. I'm guessing that we will have to wait a bit longer to see a documentary about how the show was developed as a DVD extra.
