Most Haunted's seventh season continues its tried and tested formula: take some psychics and a film crew to haunted locations and film the mayhem. After the departure of discredited `psychic' Derek Acorah, it's down to Gordon Smith and Angus Purdey to step into his shoes; with David Wells, Richard Felix, Ciaran O'Keefe and the inimitable Yvette Fielding along for the ride.

Season 7 of Most Haunted visits the Castle Keep in Newcastle, Woodchester Mansion in Gloucestershire, Mains Hall near Blackpool, and the Granada Studios and Coronation Street sets. Everywhere they go, chill winds and ghostly orbs seem to follow, as centuries of murder and intrigue are uncovered (though usually nothing that can be corroborated by any historical records, though).

Most of the time, the camera misses the action, swinging around just in time to catch some `ghostly' activity in creepy green night vision --and for most of the scares, it's evident that they're just caused by the camera crew messing about. Atmosphere is everything, though, and the overreactions of the presenters, together with the long complicated tales spun out by the psychics make for compulsive viewing. It's even occasionally a bit scary, however much you know you should know better. -- Sarah Dobbs

Utterly bogus but OK for a good laugh
Review date: 2008-03-10 Rating: 2 out of 10

Contrary to some posters I think the programme became somewhat better when Acorah went. I used to despise him as a particularly obvious fraud and used to laugh when his medium 'Sam' could tell him certain information but never revealed anything accurate. For instance, if Sam knew the surname of some offending ghost, how come he couldn't recall the Christian name etc. However, the whole programme is bogus but nevertheless, quite entertaining if you like a laugh and treat it with the contempt it deserves.

Most Haunted - Still scary and brilliant!
Review date: 2007-04-29 Rating: 10 out of 10

Many Most Haunted fans stopped watching the show once leading professional ( I use that word, loosey!) spirit medium Derek Acorah left Most Haunted. Yet season 7 proves they didnt need him. This season has the same old crew, Yvette Fielding with David Wells and the new spirit medium Gordan Smith travel to different locations in order to find ghosts. Lets talk about the places:

Lower Southwood Cottages in Devon - Best moment is the kitchen séance during which Gordon is overcome with emotion and has to leave. As he does so, a sound is heard and a knife is found to have fallen at Yvette's feet!

Castle Keep in Tyne and Wear - Psychics Gordon Smith and David Wells, both identify a woman spirit either holding or handing out flowers. Many strange noises are heard, including a brass band, though no such group are in the area. After a vigil, the chairs used in this particular investigation have apparently shifted on their own. During a solo vigil in the Gallery Room, Karl's recitation of the Lord's Prayer is interrupted twice by loud bangs - Very freaky indeed!

Woodchester Mansion in Gloucestershire - During a vigil in the upstairs corridor, a stone is thrown across the room and captured on camera. Stuart attempts a solo vigil in this area, which leads to more stones being thrown and a number of audible sighs and groans caught on camera. When the rest of the crew join him, their equipment mysteriously drains of all power and an evil presence is felt around them.

Coronation Street, Lancashire - During Karl's investigation of the alleys behind the set, a barrel rolls out of the Rovers Return yard, though no one else is in the area!

Old Church House Inn in Devon - Gordon Smith detects a connection between the inn and a nearby church, claiming a tunnel would run between the two. He also senses a robed figure, possibly a monk, who is responsible for a great deal of paranormal activity. David Wells also picks up on the tunnel and a monk as well as a figure in back in Room One and the name Robinson. Table tipping is attempted in the bar, but when sounds appear to be coming from an adjacent location, the team try the experiment in that room. The table moves quite violently and many knocking sounds are detected. In Room 12, the sound of footsteps and bells are heard from above. While in Room 17, nails fall from the floor without obvious explanation, when the team asks for a sign.

Mains Hall in Blackpool - In the Main Bedroom, during the night vigils, the spirit of a girl makes herself known and seems to make a sound when asked. In another room, Karl is convinced he has seen a shadow and a strange shape is indeed picked up on camera.

All in all this season proves they still want proof, they want to be scared and want to see a full on ghosty vision! David and Gordon work so well together, they seem to flow as one and make each show great to watch. You can tell these guys really care for their work and you know they aint faking anything. Also for everyone who is fed up with the show, dont watch! I bet u would freak out if something spooky yelled in ur ear! The team do so much and get scared to death, u can help but run off!

Buy this DVD to add to your collection. Also this DVD proves there is life or shall I say death after Derek left! Most Haunted is still brilliant and still very very very scary! Roll on Season 8!

It's truly a shame.

I purchased the first 3 seasons with great anticipation, hoping somehow to see something paranormal however I have a few rants, so please just bear with me. Love David Wells, He appears truly sincere in his readings and many blessing for a special gift. I've had a few personal experiences that have made me a true believer in the fact that life does not end, but we like a butterfly leaving its cocoon behind, merely shed this suit of skin and return back to that warm loving place from which we started this journey called life.

Okay here goes. . .

MH cast are investigating these so called very haunted places all over the UK. these guys are supposed to be professionals. . .a little whisper or groan sends them into a screaming panic!!! 'Cmon people they've been in operation so many seasons and "No Paranormal Equipment, except for cameras turned on themselves...Ugh, I'm so tired of looking up their noses. Please, how about a digital EVP recorder set up in seperate rooms? How about a thermal-Imaging Digital Camera -- So they can record images of long-wavelength infrared radiation (i.e. heat), which is invisible to the human eye. This allows the capture of images in even total darkness, or through smoke or fog.

BUT NOPE No Dice, these guys use a seance. I'm not impressed by orbs, I want to see a full bodied apparition captured on camera, which I have seen with real paranormal Ghost Hunting episodes. Save your money, get the other Ghost Hunting Series episodes on DVD. You can actually hear the voices of what I think used to be people, and with the exception of one event, no one ever came out screaming almost knocking over a camera man!
