After seeing (and loving) the first film, I had high hopes for the follow up. Unfortunately, the change of cast does nothing to help this film. The story is cheesy and predictable, the dancing isn't great, and the music is not up to par with that of the first film. All in all, couldn't wait for it to end.

A let downReview date: 2008-06-07 Rating: 4 out of 10I was expecting to like this after loving the first and also liking dancing movies. But this was a let down, it was boring, and the dancing wasn't great. If you like hip hop and street dancing buy Step Up 2 instead, the dancing in that is amazing, and after watching that you can see how bad the dancing in this is. The girl who played Sarah was no where near as good as Julia Stiles which ruined it for me, it was like watching a different film not the sequel.
The overall film was ok, not the worst film I've seen, however there are a lot better films based on dancing then thisKeep dancingReview date: 2008-04-25 Rating: 8 out of 10I actually prefer this film to the first one, it's a lot more light hearted and I find the chemistry between Sarah & Miles much more interesting and alive than in the previous film. I find Isabella Miko far less preachy than Julia Stiles and Columbus Short is amazing in this film. And the dancing, if you are a fan of dance and the films based on it then you will like it for that if nothing else.
To be honest it doesn't have a lot of substance but I watch it for the moves and some light hearted entertainment. She can't even dance!Review date: 2008-04-24 Rating: 2 out of 10we bought this because we love dance films however predictable. However it would be more convincing if she resembled the original lead and could actually dance! We spent the entire film laughing at her and the poor attempt to do 'street dance'.
If you want to see some decent dancing go for another dance film.
Only good for amusement purposes!Boring Boring BoringReview date: 2008-02-17 Rating: 2 out of 10I didn't even want to give this movie 1 star but I didn't see an option for 0. This film is nothing compared to the first, I don't even know why they bothered to make a sequel. All of the lead roles have been changed and I don't think it follows on from the first film properly. It's more like a film in it's own right and to call it a sequel to the much loved Save The Last Dance is a crime.
The passion, the storyline and plots are all missing, the character relationships are not so strong, even the music isn't as good and I'm sorry but the dancing isn't good either. I kept waiting to get in to this film and start falling in love with it like I did with the first film (which I have seen literally a million times) but it just didn't happen. This film didn't grip me like the first, it didn't touch me.
I really wouldn't advise anybody to waste their money on this rubbish. It is a complete waste of time.
