Exactly the same dialog as the book
Review date: 2008-05-08 Rating: 6 out of 10

If you've bought the book... the DVD brings nothing new. It has exactly the same material as the book. Even the script is exactly the same. I bought the book thinking that the film would give me additional information but I was disappointed.

In a nutshell.... if you read the book 1st, all this DVD will bring are moving pictures and a small scene by Bob Proctor at the end.

The visionary special effects are wondrous & enlightening that the audio & book can't show

Something different and thought provoking

'The Secret' appears to have split the population into those who believe in the power of the mind and the 'law of attraction' and those who don't. Ultimately of course that's a personal decision for you.

The actual film is not a movie as such; it's more of a documentary and is made up of contributions from self-help thinkers, philosophers and scientists and also contains a high number of acted out scenes to illustrate the points. Bob Proctor, Bob Doyle, Jack Canfield and Joe Vitale are particularly notable contributors.

I have to say that 'The Secret' has a great accompanying soundtrack and is very well packaged and put together. You'd think that the core message of the law of attraction would be boring after a while, but the film breaks this down and applies it to various lifestyle issues such as relationships, money and health.

There will be many people who will think some of the contents here are highly controversial e.g. bringing ill health upon yourself through negative thinking, but it is generally agreed from medical experiments that through the 'placebo effect' the human mind can indeed have a very powerful impact on the state and condition of the human body.

Am I a believer in this...? Yes, I am. Napoleon Hill's classic book on success (commissioned by Andrew Carnegie) was called 'Think and Grow Rich' - that was a long time ago and even back then a belief in positive thinking and a 'wealth mindset' were recognised as key internal wiring and a compass to personal success.

Overall 'The Secret' is thought provoking and you should at least give it a run on your DVD player to make up your own mind about it.

Positive Results.... for Positive Thinkers
Review date: 2008-03-16 Rating: 10 out of 10

Having watched The Secret, my partner has gone from being a back sufferer who indulged in self-pity, to someone who actually believes that every little step forward is due to the law of attraction and him wanting to make it happen. The DVD with its Australian production was very clear to follow, and if it's responsible for making someone so forward looking, positive and in a position where they're not lamenting in their own sorrow.... then full marks!!!

Stick with Paul McKenna

I'm astonished at the rave reviews of The Secret. I'm a great beleiver in positive thinking and have used quite a few self help tools in the past but found this extremely poor. The presenters are horribly patronising and just fill up the DVD by saying the same thing over and over again. I forced myself to watch it a second time just to see if I was missing anything. I wasn't. If it's self help you're looking for, stick with Mr McKenna.
