This movie is a thriller, but it is the relationship between the two men that drives the story. An ensemble cast of neighbours weave in and out telling their stories - notably the wonderful Liz Smith (Royle Family's 'nana') - and the tension is maintained at a steady pace. If you liked 'Fargo' or 'Blood Simple', 'Angel Heart' or even 'Happiness', then give this a try.

The story is set in Argentina where film buff Colin Firth is running an arthouse cinema while keeping a loving eye on his ailing institutionalised Argentinian mother who is slowly losing her marbles. With finances becoming tight he decides to take a lodger into his apartment. Firth is perfectly cast as the hapless English gent losing the plot but doing his best to maintain a stiff upper lip. After several failed interviews, control freak Firth chooses his polar opposite, an amoral and hedonistic American played beautifully by Hart Bochner. But that's really just the beginning.
