Thriller.
Review date: 2007-11-19 Rating: 8 out of 10

Its what it says. Thriller. Not an action movie. Dont watch it expecting Die Hard or HEAT...

So, after you have got over that hurdle, its a really good film. Ok so its a bit 'dodgey' in places, and it isnt a film that has had millions and millions of pounds spent on it, but the effect of the film is really good. You really get the idea of being trapped inside your house and not being able to get out and the terror or what is going on, and not knowing what is going on.

There are parts that are, visually, excellent. The overview of the city as parts burst into flames are really effective, while the toxic ash falling down over the surrounding area looks great.

I bought this for £2 ish and it was most definitely worth it. Just don't sit through it expecting an action packed 5 star blockbuster.

Bad Bad Bad
Review date: 2007-07-17 Rating: 2 out of 10

The story line should have made a great film but with poor acting bad filming and stupid mistakes made this bad film worse. I could only stand watching the first half hour and the camera shaking made me feel ill, the storyline was badly acted and really let down by the lack of any interest. Stay well clear and save your money for a good film.

The human angle of terrorism
Review date: 2007-06-29 Rating: 8 out of 10

"Right at your door" is a very interesting little independent film. In it, a 'dirty bomb' is exploded in downtown LA and at the advice of the public service anouncement Brad (Rory Cochrane) barricades himself in his house, not knowing if his wife (Mary Mcormack) who has just left for work, is alive or dead. When his wife finally turns up, he is faced with a dilemma; let her in and release deadly toxins into the house or leave her outside and condemn her to certain death.

You can see the obvious budget limitations, but it is still a powerful film, deciding not to show the devastation of the attack and concentrating on just two main characters and showing the human aftermath of a terrorist attack, it puts the audience in a 'what-would-you-do' situation.

The film is helped along by two solid perormances from its leads, and while it does lag a little in the second half, this proves to be the calm before the storm as the film finishes with a real sucker-punch of an ending.

Right at Your Door

An Average Independent Movie starring Mary McCormack and Rory Cochrane.
The film starts with a very good plot As Lexi and Brad prepare for the day shes of to work hes out of work little did they know what was in store for them. A "Dirty Bomb" Explodes in downtown La causing Chaos and force parts of la into quarantine. the next 15mins is spend trying to find his wife in LA.Up to this point i felt the film was moving along nicely i could all the points they were trying to make. The film then comes to life when Brad has taped up his house to stop the toxics from the bomb getting in and Lexi arrives home unwell. However from this point the film shags away theres alot of unintrested talking and you could easily start to lose intrested as Lexi trys to get in her house. This is how it rolls alond for the remainder of the film. but if you havent switched it off theres a good little ended.overall the plot was good the story was good acting was ok good ended but i would rent before i bought it film was a bit dissapointing.

Stumbles at the second hurdle
Review date: 2007-03-27 Rating: 6 out of 10

A dirty bomb explodes in downtown LA and a man is left wondering whether to believe the news reports and stay at home or go in search of his missing wife. Chris Gorak gets round the obvious limitations in budget by sticking with his main characters point of view and in doing so he ends up with an incredibly scary and claustrophobic atmosphere, which no amount of CGI could have emulated. Its great stuff but unfortunately the film almost completely loses its way after the initial set up, the story takes a wrong turning in my view because the main character makes a decision that's makes absolutely no sense in the context of either the story or what we know of him as a personality, and because of this nothing afterward really feels believable either. It's a real pity because Right At Your Door" could have been a truly brilliant psychological thriller, but at the end of the day I'd have to agree with many of the other reviews here; the premise and opening 30 minutes are excellent but the rest of the film fails to deliver.
