Review of the Blu Ray disc rather than the film
Review date: 2008-07-12 Rating: 6 out of 10
I rented this and have to say that I was disappointed by the visual quality of the film on Blu Ray. I do not actually think it was any better than the DVD (which I own) except marginally. For perhaps a couple of scenes the picture quality was good and clearly HD.
I have to disagree with the other reviewer who says that the picture quality is outstanding, it is not at all. Plenty of grain and not a sharp picture.
As for the sound, either 5.1 or PCM uncompressed. As my amplifier does not have an HDMI slot I cannot use PCM uncompressed sound and so cannot comment on that. the 5.1 sound was ok but again no better than the DVD.
The film itself is great, which is why I own it on DVD and why I rented it on Blu Ray. I was very disappointed with the Blu Ray version, I suppose this comes across in my review!
If you don't own it on DVD, then it is worth getting this.
Only marginally better than the DVD with no extras on the disc at all!

Entertaining!Review date: 2007-11-05 Rating: 8 out of 10After watching countless films that take a lot of concentration and thought, I wanted something a little more chilled-out and easy going. Usually, a comedy fits the bill quite nicely, so I started my search. I found A Knight's Tale on blu ray at ebay, going for only £10. What the hell, I thought.
Firstly, in terms of visual quality, I didn't expect A Knight's Tale to look quite as good as it does! It's truly brilliant looking; very crisp and sharp, with wonderfully warm colour toning and consistent source material with very little (read: none) grain to detract from the detail. I wouldn't say this is the best looking blu ray disc available (that title shifts with every new weeks releases) but it's definitely up on the scale.
The audio is good too, in fact...it's brilliant. You've got a stunning soundtrack of killer tunes, all presented in Dolby PCM and Surround 5.1. The audio is definitely the defining ingrediant of this film, and with such fantastic quality on the visuals, it's a very good matchup indeed.
A sad thing is the lack of bonus features on the disc. In fact, there aren't any. None. Nada. You'd think they could fit a few extras onto these honking 25GB discs, but sadly A Knight's Tale didn't get any inclusions.
Overall, A Knight's Tale is funny, light hearted, and a wonderfully easy-going ride. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for relief from action films, or just anyone looking for a good solid comedy. Go on, joust get it. Oh, ho. That was bad..apologies :)
