as a fan of tom and jerry i really admire the violent humor of the show and its brutal scenes of chaos and violence.the episodes are brilliant and tom and jerry still impress me with their adventures.i love tom and jerry for its violence because of scenes like when jerry closes the window and tom gets his head stuck in the window and screams and even when pieces of toms body fall off.some people think tom and jerry might be a violent cartoon but.tom and jerry arent that violent,just a couple of crazy animals up to mischief and total disorder and i will always love watching it.

Great collection, but yes there are a lot of cuts here, and in some of the very best cartoons. The worst offender is the Oscar-winning "The Little Orphan", in which the whole climactic sequence has had to be butchered and re-edited - ruined, really - to accommodate the excision of a blackface gag. (Oddly though, "Mouse Cleaning" and "Casanova Cat", the two cartoons with the most blatant blackface gags, are included unscathed. If you want to get upset by a 50-year old cartoon, there's your chance.)
These cartoons aren't just fun diversions for the kids, they're important pieces of cultural history. We might not like some of the attitudes they reflect, but to pretend they never existed is to invite them to return. If you're afraid of offending anyone, add a disclaimer or a warning on the disc. Publishers of classic cartoons should keep their grubby scissors away from them - especially if they're going to present them as a "Collector's Edition".

Naturally Tom & Jerry needs no introduction as they are known worldwide for their cat and mouse routine, entertaining decades of fans. This long awaited boxed set comprises of all six volumes spread over six double sided disks letting you relive all of their adventures as many times as you want. I was always and remain to this day a big fan of the cartoon and I'm glad that I've been able to buy all the episodes for such a cheap price. It's a shame that the dark cloud of censorship has been cast over the cartoon, as some of the episodes have been cut to make them more suitable for 'younger' children. But still it only accounts for a matter of seconds and doesn't detract from an otherwise perfect release. Personally I feel that the first two volumes contained the funnier and more entertaining episodes, but all of the others are still great. So if you're a fan and want to own the classic cartoon or somehow new to Tom & Jerry then this is the ideal buy.

What vaue and what fun to see these Tom and Jerry all again

You get 6 double-sided DVDs - when you see this as the equivelant of 12 DVDs full of Tom and Jerry's antics. Although some of the 1960's themed cartoons don't do it for me, that's a matter of taste rather than a fault of this great collection.

We had a good few Tom and Jerry VHS tapes for our earlier kids, which got worn and battered. Having recently given up on VHS in favour of DVD, I am delighted to see our old friends back in the house agin, in such high quality, for our youngest - and not only the youngest ;-) to enjoy.

Those with the smallest kids may have to look out for their handling of these DVDs by the smallest of hands, as they are double sided.

Is this box set cut to appease the pc brigade?

It seems that some of the cartoons in this box set may be censored due to perceived racial elements (shock/horror!). As yet I don't know anyone who has bought to set to confirm or deny this important issue. I certainly don't want to purchase the classic cartoons if they have been spoiled by narrow-minded fools who think harmless cartoons are dangerously offensive.

Any one out there got the set who can shed light on this issue?
