i really enjoyed this film!
Review date: 2008-01-14 Rating: 8 out of 10
recently ive bought loads of retro 80s slasher movies which i remember renting from my local video van. when i ordered "he knows your alone" i saw this"dont answer the phone" & i looked it up in a "slashers guide" as
this appears in different cuts & as i hate spliced movies i bought the r1 ntsc version.it was about a vietnam veteran /photographer,breaking into
womens houses, then raping & strangling them. he rings into a psychologists
radio show & taunts her, then breaks into her house but her boyfriend cop
struggles & eventually shoots him.lots of scares &laughs,i.e.the maniac
kirk smith ranting on at himself into a mirror, hes one crazy dude! look for the r1 ntsc or you will end up with a cut version!

Worth it for WorthReview date: 2006-11-06 Rating: 6 out of 10This is a film my mate dave always raves on about, I first seen it years ago and found it to be a pretty pedestrian effort, poorly directed and photographed and apart from Nicholas Worth as the killer, poorly acted aswell. I recently picked up this uncut R1 release to re-evaulate it and my opinion hasnt changed much, Nicholas Worth is the only good thing a bout it, BUT dont let put you off as this guy is reason enough to purchase this dvd, he is brilliant in this film playing one of the craziest maniacs on the screen! The taxi driver-esque scene when he is standing in his living room with a glass of beer in his hand talking to himself is absoluteley hilarious and is worth the price of the dvd alone. A tour de force performance from one of the most underrated actors of recent years, they way he switches suddenly from a kind polite gentleman to a demented woman hating killer is simply brilliant. He is one of the most despicable charcters on the screen but in a strange way you root for him in the film as the cops on his tail are a pair of total bozo's, James Westmorland is truly dreadful as the detective in charge, a beggar's James Brolin and thats being polite!
If you are going to purchase this film, just make sure it is the uncut R1 you buy as there are several cut versions of this released all of which are a drastically watered down american tv print. Anchorbay released that butchered abomination in the UK recently, shame on them, so make sure you avoid that at all costs. So order the uncut version and sit back with a beer and take a trip down 'hollywood boogalard' with one of the craziest b@stards on screen, its well Worth it!
