Synopsis
Features series 1 to 5 of the animated TV comedy. The programme is based around the Griffin family, comprised of bumbling, well-intentioned father Peter; his sweet but oblivious wife Lois; and their teenagers, dim-witted Chris and awkward Meg. The most recognisable characters, however, remain the family's masterminds: evil genius baby Stewie, determined to achieve complete world domination at the age of one, and Brian, an erudite martini-swilling dog, the family's lone voice of reason.

I have to express my disagreement with another reviewer who seemed to indicate that you had to be a guy to enjoy Family Guy. You DO NOT have to be a guy AT ALL to be in love with Family Guy. I know this because I am a teenage girl, and I and many of my friends love Family Guy. We also love other "guy" shows, such as 24, while still liking things like The OC, which are considered to be more "girl" shows. I do not appreciate this sexist attitude towards TV shows.
This show is incredible. Don't be fooled, though, some people may not like it. It is crass, crude and insanely tasteless, but it is just funnier than any other TV show around. Be warned, it has no discernable plot, and if you like the Simpsons, and you want to continue liking them, then do not watch this show. I used to love the Simpsons, as well as Futurama, but this has completely killed my enthusiasm for them, as they seem pathetic and meek in comparison.
If you have a sense of humour, and are not too prudish and polite, then you can be pretty sure that you will adore this show.

you can buy season 1 - 6 individually for £97 off of amazon. it would be like saving £2 and getting season 6 for free.
An animated comedy with jokes faster than a Lewis Hamilton qualifying lap

Before I comment any further on Family Guy, I will just get the extremely boring and repetitive comparisons with THE SIMPSONS out ot the way. It is an animated comedy about a family and so is THE SIMPSONS. In this, the Griffin family have an obsession with the TV and so do THE SIMPSONS and that is roughly where the similarities end. Seriously though, do I give a flying circus if there are a few similarities?, DO I BLEEP. Is STAR WARS the same as STAR TREK?, NO. Are RICE CRISPIES the same as CORN FLAKES?, NO. Are DOGS the same as CATS?, NO. Can I like THE SIMPSONS and FAMILY GUY?, YES.
The jokes in Family Guy are faster than a Lewis Hamilton qualifying lap but even if they are too fast for some people, it can still be entertaining and funny in other ways. It takes more than fast jokes to make an animated comedy something special, it needs characters that are unique and are so different from each other to standout, sadly this is where Family Guy fails miserably, NOT.
It would take me far too long to mention all the characters and so I will just mention my personal favourites, the first is the cutest and most adorable baby ever to appear on TV, NOT. The second is the most stupidest and aggressive non stop barking dog ever to appear on TV, NOT. STEWIE THE BABY and BRIAN THE DOG are the two most reasons why I absolutely love Family Guy. Even just the thought of a baby that makes Hitler look like a good man but can get away with it because he is a baby and a talking dog that is the most witty and intelligent member of the family almost makes me laught to the point of crying. One last special mention must go to the Griffins love of TV because it takes it to a whole new emotional and nostalgic level. There are plenty of classic TV moments, THE FLINTSTONES, DALLAS, THE X FILES, THE INCREDIBLE HULK and THE TWILIGHT ZONE are just a few memorable moments of nostalgic bliss.
If you still have never seen Family Guy and are easily offended, then avoid it like your worst TV programme ever. If however you are not easlily offended, then give Family Guy a chance because it gets a five star recommendation from Scarterhill. HOLY CRAP, IS THAT THE TIME.

This is a great show however, this box set isn't value for money. You'd be much better off purchasing Seasons 1-5 separately (save you about £25)

ok simple
this dvd box set is the best ive ever got from amazon price is great dvd is great and just think of it over 1000 hours of family guy now u cant beet that i got it 1 week ago and just finished watching it and want to watch it again.
2 things i will add is
1.its better than simpsons 110%
2.will make you have none stop fun and is just so great nothing can tell you how good it is coz its of the scale.
BUT 1 THING I DONT LIKE IS THAT AMAZON HAS MADE IT 2X THE AMOUNT I PAID ONLY 3 WEEKS AGO. I PAID ONLY £43 + POST.
