Synopsis

Includes seasons 1 to 4 of the popular 1980s animation series TRANSFORMERS and TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE: RECONSTRUCTED. Seasons 1 and 2 of TRANSFORMERS focuses on the battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons, which are both robots that have the ability to transform into other objects. Set in the year 2005, TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE sees the Autobots and the Decepticons still locked in battle, but a deadly new force enters the fray--a giant killer planet known as Unicron (voiced by film legend Orson Welles). The heroic Autobots must fight for their own survival and to save their home planet from destruction. A classic of 1980s animation, based on the popular TV series, TRANSFORMERS: THE MOVIE features a star-studded array of vocal talent, including Welles, Leonard Nimoy, Judd Nelson, Eric Idle, and Casey Kasem. Following on from where TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE left off, seasons 3 and 4 of TRANSFORMERS sees Optimus Primal leading the Maximals in their seemingly never ending quest to defeat the evil Predacons and their leader, Megatron. The box set also includes a double sided poster of TRANSFORMERS THE MOVIE.

Yes, Transformers has been around for a while

I wasn't sure about getting this box set since even in the 80s, I found G1 to be dull. But then I guess that was because I wasn't trying to relax and cheer up at the time. These days I try as much as possible and I found this box set to be enjoyable.

The packaging style isn't great, but it's functional and that's better than nothing. There are extras which consist of interviews, animation blooper reels and more. Nothing special to be honest and a tad outdated by now, but still it's the thought that counts.
The episodes themselves have the original animation, flaws and all, and it makes the series so endearing. All the original themes are there, the original voices and the original characters. The 1986 movie added in is the US version, with improved sound and picture, but huge borders around the main picture all the way through the movie. But you can fairly see and hear the difference between a version released back in 2001, which I've also got and bought years ago.

This is a good cartoon to watch with your kids if you have parents, or by yourself if you fancy a little regression time. It's a classic 80s cartoon in every way, so much better than what passes for cartoons in this day and age. It's every episode, plus the remastered movie. In total you get 14 discs, which equals to 138 hours and 65 minutes, plus extras on the discs and outside of the discs in terms of a double sided poster showing the two seperate covers for Transformers the Movie and a few postcards plus small booklets. I was surprised to see all that, that's for sure.

So worth the money? Oh aye, well worth it. Perfect for kids and adults alike, so transform and roll out! Sorry, couldn't resist.

If you love the original classic 80's 'Transformers' then this box-set is definitely for you! This is the largest box-set of anything that I have ever purchased in my whole life and it was well and truly worth every single penny.

This 'Complete Generation One Collection' is true to it's word and contains EVERY SINGLE EPISODE from the original classic 'Transformers' TV series. It contains seasons one all the way up to four.

Once there was a terrible war going on between two races of Transformers, the Autobots and the Decepticons. One day, however, the spacecraft that they were all fighting on crash-landed into a prehistoric earth. In Season one (set in the year 1984, 4 million years later) we are introduced to the Autobots, such as Optimus Prime, Cliffjumper, Bumblebee, Jazz, Blaster, etc. Unfortunately, we are also introduced to the evil Decepticons, such as Starscream, Ravage the metallic panther, Soundwave and their evil leader (I wish it was Starscream. He's always fighting for leadership in most of the episodes) Megatron.

They are not the only characters who have a part to play. Not too long after being re-activated on earth, the Autobots rescue the lives and befriend two humans who become the main human characters of the series, a young boy named Spike and his father, Sparkplug (funny names, I know. But don't blame me. Take it up with the writers, LOL!). As you progress through the series you learn that the Autobots are fighting the Decepticons not for fun, nor because they enjoy hurting and killing. Far from it! They fight for freedom and peace, led by the most legendary and heroic Autobot of all, Optimus Prime, who proves to be very compassionate and considerate to all living creatures, including humans.

In season two, it's still pretty much the same as the first season, except that it's set one year into the future. Eventually, we are introduced to two more humans who have a part to play in the series. One is a physically-disabled boy named Chip who is a computer-genius and always ready to lend a hand in places where the Autobots need it. The second is our first female human character named Carly, who eventually becomes Spike's girlfriend and future-mother to his son named Daniel, whom we are introduced to in the movie set years later in 2005.

Speaking of the movie, as an added bonus, this box-set also comes with the original classic 'Transformers the Movie.' The picture quality has been made into wide-screen and has been updated, enhanced, sharpened and digitally re-mastered to really give you the year 2005 feeling (since that is the actually year that the movie's story takes place). The sound quality has also been improved with added sound effects to make certain scenes more realistic (e.g. the part when right before Optimus Prime dies, he opens his chest compartment to take out the Matrix. In the old movie version, only music was heard playing through this part. In the enhanced version, you hear a lot of mechanical sounds making this scene feel more realistic). Spike says something rather naughty too but I'll hold myself back from revealing that one, LOL!

Anyway, to keep it brief, we are introduced to some new characters. We have Daniel, Spike's son and a new teenage autobot named Hot Rod, who seems to play a big brotherly role towards Daniel and takes care of him when his father's busy and not around. We also meet Cup, an old grandfather-like Autobot (kinda makes you think of Ironhide) who always has a lot of old war stories to tell. We also meet our very first female autobot warrior named Arcee, who can be very overly-protective of Daniel most of the time and acts a lot like a mother towards him. There are a few others too but I don't want to say everything when I'd rather you watched it for yourselves.

In seasons three and four (after being introduced to new characters in the movie and having the classic, good-old characters killed off or simply just disappear...BBBOOOOOOOO!!!) I guess you could say that we learn more about the origin of Transformers and how they were originally built for working purposes by these ugly-looking creatures called `Quintesons'...I only hope our God's not as ugly as them, LOL! We also get to see how a guilt-ridden Rodimus Prime struggles to accept his responsibilities in caring for the Matrix and leading his fellow-Autobots to victory while trying so hard to be everything that Optimus Prime would want him to be. Speaking of Optimus, there is VERY GOOD news for you there...but I'm not telling you what it is. Watch it for yourselves, I can't tell you everything, LOL!

Finally, on a few of the discs you are given a lot of special features, including a mistake real, audio-commentary, `Transformers' adverts from the 80s, a quiz, games, scripts and so on. There is just so much waiting for you in this HUGE BOX!

If you love `Transformers' then this is a box-set that you simply MUST own. Why buy the seasons individually? Just buy the ENTIRE BOX-SET! Until then, in the words of Optimus Prime..."Till all are one!"
