The League returns larger than ever
Review date: 2008-11-02 Rating: 10 out of 10

Following the Thanagarian invasion at the end of season two of the Justice League, the Watchtower has been rebuilt and the League itself expanded exponentially. This first season of the new and improved Justice League builds on what came before with some great adventures.

The format of the show has been changed for this season, where the previous Justice League series had a single story stretching over one or two episodes; Unlimited generally has a single story per episode. As well as this there is also something of a story arc that goes throughout the entire season with the government operation Cadmus attempting to find ways to counter the power of the League.

The previous Justice League series was great and if anything Unlimited is even better with better animation than the previous series and a continuation of the great writing and characterization that the previous series showed. This series shows a scope that the previous series could only dream of and although some characters are sidelined somewhat there are more than enough heroes to go round.

There are many great episodes in this series with any involving the Question being brilliant fun in particular. There also of a couple of good episodes involving the Batman Beyond cast which are both very good. This series is a great addition to the DC Animated Universe and I will definitely be getting the other DCAU series.

A galaxy full of iconic and cult faves from the DC Comics universe
Review date: 2007-06-30 Rating: 10 out of 10

My other half was excited to get this at hand. He had waited forever to see all these amazing super heroes together and this show did not disappoint in the slightest. Plots that make Hollywood movies look like grade school plays and dialogue witty enough to keep "House" fans entertained. More than 50 favorite comic book superheroes combine forces to keep the world safe in this action-packed animated series. Using their special powers of flight, time travel, ultra human strength and more, the members of the Justice League battle notorious villains such as Lex Luthor and Cadmus.

This UNLIMITED series carries on from the regular JL series. It's all around great. More characters, more action. It can spread itself a bit thin since it has so many different characters, but that's the way it would be. The original series had only a few characters, so you got a lot of character development. Here, it's a bit spread out, but by now, you already know the main players.

The season two finale, "Epilogue," is a particularly dramatic episode set 65 years in the future, when Batman Beyond's Terry McGinnis learns some shocking revelations about his parentage from an aged Bruce Wayne. The two-parter "The Once and Future Thing," stood out to me as well as "Kid Stuff, and "This Little Piggy," when Circe turns Wonder Woman into a pig while seeing the lighter side of Batman towards the end in the nightclub.

If you're a fan of the JLA or DC Universe, you owe it to yourself to check these out. Brilliantly animated, smartly written, and superbly acted by a stellar voice cast, Justice League offers unlimited enjoyment you'll not only want to view/borrow but buy as well. Great for kids and adults alike.

The Justice League go Unlimited
Review date: 2007-01-27 Rating: 10 out of 10

This boxset combines seasons 3 and 4 of "Justice League" into one long season, that sees the original 7 members of the League expand their team to incorporate every hero on the planet.
As the season progresses an interesting story arch develops which draws continuity from previous animated series from Producer Bruce Timm, surpassing anything he has created to date. The show clearly draws inspiration from recent hit shows like Buffy, Angel and 24 and manages the seemingly impossible task of juggling so many characters whilst breathing new life into the original 7.
Animation is clearly Timm's calling, making use of the 'unlimited' scope the genre can offer, whilst raising some very interesting questions regarding the leagues presence as weapons of mass destruction.
There are too many episodes on this boxset to make specific reference to, but "The Clash" and "For the man who has everything" are just two of my favourites.
If you have never seen any of Timm's previous work, but you have the slightest interest in Super heroes, then this is a must buy, as you will never see anything like this outside of the comic panels.
